Sarah Bond has teased that the nextXboxconsole will feature the “largest technical leap” between console generations that players will have ever seen.
After months of rumours and worry, Xbox has finally commented on the rumours that some of its exclusive games are coming to other platforms in abusiness-focused episode of the Xbox Podcast, whichrevealed that only four titles are planned on being ported right now.We don’t officially know what those four games are,but it’s been reported that they include Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded.
Although the business update was mainly focused on calming Xbox fans down and disputing the rumours that massive titles like Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are coming to other platforms, that’s not all that was talked about there. Phil Spencer, Matt Booty, Tina Amini, and Sarah Bond also discussed the future of Xbox, which included a little bit of teasing about the next generations of consoles.
After discussing what role hardware plays for Xbox, Sarah Bond noted that the studio is already “invested in the next generation roadmap”, which is something that has been rumoured for some time. Bond didn’t go as far as revealing any details about what the next Xbox is going to look like or be focused on, but he did give a little tease about how powerful it’s going to be by saying that it’s going to be “the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation”.
“We’re also invested in the next-generation roadmap. And what we’re really focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation, which makes it better for players and better for creators and the visions that they’re building.”
We don’t currently know what that’s about, butThe Verge seems to think that it could be some kind of Xbox handheld, another thing that’s been rumoured to be coming from the company for some time. This was backed up by Spencer saying during an interview with them that he’s proud of the “unique” hardware that’s currently being worked on, which certainly sounds like it’ll be a new venture for Xbox.
