Last Epochis an ARPG with tons of customizability, build options, gear, and more. After choosing one of five classes, you will venture through time and space to save a world on the brink of destruction.

There are five different classes in Last Epoch, each with three of their own Masteries that you’re able to unlock. However, you can only choose one of these Masteries to continue as, so you’ll definitely want to make the right choice. Below you can find a brief overview of each of the classes and their Masteries in Last Epoch.

How Do Classes Work In Last Epoch?

When you first make your character, you will have the option to choose fromfive different classes. Each class has their own skills and passives that can be upgraded as you level up. However, once you reach a certain point in the campaign, you’ll be able to unlock one of your class’sthree Masteries.

Masteries unlock new, exclusive abilities for your class, drastically changing your playstyle. Youwon’t be able to revert your Mastery choice, so pick wisely.

Mage

The Mage is aranged magic userin Last Epoch. With the powers of Fire, Cold, and Lightning, the Mage wields deadly magic in a variety of ways. The Mage can create waves of ice to freeze enemies with Glacier, burn through them with Volcanic Orb, or electrocute them with Lightning Blast. He also has access to utility skills like Teleport for getting around quickly or Snap Freeze for immobilizing enemies.

Sorcerer

The Sorcerer is a moretraditional long-range magicuserthat gains access to a variety of useful and powerful spells. The Sorcerer’s Mastery Skill,Meteor, summons a meteor that dealsmassive amounts of damagein an area.

The Sorcerer is for players who want aburst style of gameplaywith a focus onlong-range spellcasting.

Spellblade

The Spellblade is a Mage mastery that has woven the art ofmagic and swordplaytogether, using melee weapons to deal elemental damage. Spellblade’s Mastery Skill isShatter Strike, which deals damage in an area around the Mage whileinstantly killing frozen enemiesbelow a certain health threshold.

Choose the Spellblade Mastery if you want to play amelee Magethat has access to a number ofstrong AoE attacks, high elemental defense, and mobility.

Runemaster

The Runemaster is a master ofcrafting and casting runes. The Runemaster’s Mastery Skill isRunic Invocation, which grants unique Runes when using other elemental skills. Then, you may activate Runic Invocation to perform an attack thatchanges depending on the number and order of Runesyou have.

If you likecombo-focused gameplay, usingall three elements of spellsavailable, the Runemaster will be the best Mage Mastery for you.

Rogue

The Rogue is amaster of ranged and melee combat, wielding daggers, bows, and other weapons of subterfuge from the shadows. The Rogue can specialize in melee or ranged attacks withFlurry, which changes depending on what type of weapon you have equipped. The Rogue is alsovery mobile, with access toShiftfor dashing around andSmoke Bombfor escaping danger.

Bladedancer

The Bladedancer is the Rogue’smelee-focusedMastery. The Bladedancer leans toward themobile, slash-and-dash gameplayof the base Rogue, while adding in even more powerful attacks that utilizedual wielding. The Bladedancer’s Mastery Skill isDancing Strikes, which deals a series of fast dash attacks.

If you want your Rogue to be afast-paced melee dual wielder, choose the Bladedancer.

Marksman

The Marksman is theranged-focusedMastery for the Rogue. Wielding her bow, the Marksman hasan arrow for every situation. From firingexploding arrowsto summoningwaves of arrowsto rain from the sky, the Marksman is the defacto bow-wielding long-range option for Rogue.

The Marksman’s Mastery Skill isDetonating Arrow, which embeds an arrow in the enemy that explodes after a short delay, dealing massive damage.

The Marksman is best suited to players who want tokite enemies using high mobilityandlong-range bow attacks.

Falconer

The Falconer Mastery allows the Rogue tocontrol a Falcon in battle, providing variousbuffsto the Rogue. The Falconer’s Mastery Skill isFalconry, which commands her Falcon to rapidlyattack nearby enemies. The Falconer also gains access totraps and other tools of deceptionto ensnare her foes.

If you want to play the Rogue as a pet class withtons of versatilityin combat, the Falconer is the perfect option.

Primalist

The Primalist is a brutal warrior whocombines the physical power of weaponry with the elemental power of nature. By default, the Primalist can summon aWolf Companionto aid him in battle. The Primalist also has access to a number of different abilities, fromsurrounding yourself with damaging stormstosummoning mighty totems, the Primalist is one of themost versatile classesin Last Epoch.

Beastmaster

The Beastmaster Mastery focuses entirely on the Primalist’s animal companions. His Mastery Skill,Summon Raptor, lets you summon a fierce raptor to the battlefield, while many of the Beastmaster’s other skills focus onsummoning other types of companions, like aBearorSabertooth.

If you want to play apet class with elemental nature magic, the Beastmaster is the only class you’ll ever need.

Druid

The Druid is a master ofshapeshifting, gaining access to severaltransformations. The Druid’s Mastery Skill isWerebear Form, which transforms you into a Werebear, granting you access tofour new abilities. Similarly, the Druid can useSpriggan FormorSwarmbladeForm, each with theirown set of abilitiesand playstyle.

Choose the Druid Mastery if you want to have avariety of different playstylesat your fingertips through various beast form Transformations.

Shaman

As a Shaman, youwield the powers of nature through Totems. The Shaman’s Mastery Skill,Summon Storm Totem, creates a Totem that casts waves of lightning around itself. Through the Shaman’s Passive Tree, you can upgrade your Totems to have them grant you various effects while increasing their usefulness.

If you want to play a Primalist thatmainly wields magic, but has a hint ofstationary pet-class style gameplay, the Shaman is definitely the best option.

Acolyte

The Acolyte is amagic-based wielder of the dark arts, raising undead to fight by her side. As an Acolyte, you have access to a variety of forbidden spells, debilitating your foes while you steal their vitality. The Acolyte can summon exploding zombies withSummon Volatile Zombie, or curse foes withBone Curse.

Necromancer

The Necromancer specializes insummoning undead minions. Her Mastery Skill,Summon Wraith, calls a ghostly specter to the battlefield thatseeks out and attacks foeswhile it is active.Skeletal MagesandAbominationscan also be summoned by the Necromancer, amassing an army to deal with any threat.

Choose the Necromancer Mastery if you want to besurrounded by an undead armywhile decimating foes with dark magic.

Lich

The Lich is an Acolyte Mastery thatspecializes in blood magic, with the unique ability totransform into a Reaperfor a short time, granting access to new skills. The Lich cansiphon lifefrom enemies with every strike, wieldingranged magic or melee weapons.

The Lich is great atself-sustain through lifestealanddebilitating auras, making it the perfect class for players who don’t want to rely on anyone but themselves.

Warlock

The Warlock is a dark caster thatspecializes in ranged magic attacks. The Warlock’s Mastery Skill, Chthonic Fissure, creates an area on the ground thatdeals damage over timewhile releasing spirits that seek out and attack enemies. The Warlock also relies oncurses and corruptionsto weaken foes and empower their own attacks.

The Warlock is theultimate dark magic spell casterin Last Epoch, making it perfect for players who prefer that type of playstyle.

Sentinel

The Sentinel is yourtraditional sword and board characterthat can use almost any type of weapon with ease. Through mastery of combat, the Sentinel can handle any situation using their trusty weapons; plowing through enemies with aShield Rush, piercing them with aJavelin, or cleaving through them withWarpath.

Forge Guard

The Forge Guard greatly increases the Sentinel’sdefensive capabilities. With an innate 33 percent increase to physical and fire damage reduction, the Sentinel is suited totanking hits with their shield, then striking back withShield Throwor his Mastery Skill,Forge Strike. This skill has a chance tosummon a Forge Weapon on hit, allowing you to amass an army of fiery weapons to aid you.

If you’re looking to play atanky Sentinelwith a variety ofoffensive and defensive options, the Forge Guard is a great choice.

Paladin

The Paladin is theholy warriorMastery for the Sentinel, allowing him to wield righteous powers against the forces of evil. The Paladin’s Mastery Skill,Holy Aura, grants apassive damage buffto nearby allies, while activating the skill temporarilydoubles your stats. UsingHealing HandsandSigils of Hope, the Paladin can alsoheal their allieswhile applying useful buffs.

The Paladin is the perfect class for players who want tosupport others through buffing and healing, making it a great class formultiplayer parties.

Void Knight

A Void Knight is a Sentinel who has beencorrupted by the void, gaining access todark magic. The Void Knight passively gains75 percent increased void damageon his melee attacks, and any melee attack, throwing attack, or void spell has a chance to berepeated by an echo. The Void Knight’s Mastery Skill,Erasing Strike, deals void damage in an area while replacing defeating enemies withvoid rifts.

If you want to play a Sentinel with access todark magic and powerful area attacks, the Void Knight is the perfect choice.
