Backpack Battlesoffers four classes for players to duke it out with in an organizational brawl. Like any auto-battler, you’ll need to learn the ropes by playing a few games. Since each class offers unique gear options and play styles, you’ll have a lot more fun if you pick a class that’s right for you straight away.
We’ve broken down the themes of each class and their subclasses, so you can decide which character is the best fit for you. It’s also helpful to know what kind of foes you might come up against, and be ready for them.

Backpack Battles is in early access, so its available classes and their capabilities may change.
Ranger
Easy To Learn, Consistent Attacks
The Ranger isthe best class for beginners. She focuses onusing weapons to make attacks, primarily bows and daggers, while relying on her Lucky Clovers to enhance her crit rate.
Playing as the Ranger is also a great way tolearn to manage your Stamina, since her attacks can drain it quickly but she’s not in terrible trouble if she runs out.

The Ranger has several ways toinflict Poisonby crafting venomous arrows and daggers, or she can useWalrus Tusksto make gear thatpunishes attackers with Spikes.
Reaper
Debuff Specialist, Meticulous Planner
The Reaperfocuses heavily on applying debuffs, especially Poison. Most of her buildsdon’t deal a lot of direct damage, instead relying on defense while her toxins and fatigue wear the opponent down.
She’s also excellent at mixing potions and using Food-type items to their fullest extent. Her alchemical concoctions and her unique Deck of Cards make her ideal for players wholike finding the perfect layout for their bageach round. Placement matters for all four classes, but especially the Reaper.

The Reaper favorslong, drawn-out battlesas long as she can keep herself in the fight.
The Reaper also has more ways than any other class tosteal her opponent’s HP, which helps keep her fighting until the very last.

Berserker
Crafts Exceptional Gear, Hits Hard
Part blacksmith, part warrior, the Berserker makes heavy use of Backpack Battles’crafting mechanics. Her Forging Hammer lets her create unique, powerful weapons and armor, and her Battle Rage makes her extremely dangerous when her HP gets low.
In both the short and long term, the Berserkerneeds time to reach her full potential. You’ll have to spend a few rounds crafting the gear you need, which can leave you weak in the early stages of a run. If you like a character withlots of late-game potentialand the ability to hit like a ton of bricks, she’s the character for you.
The Berserker can take some getting used to, so new players should play a few rounds as the Ranger or Reaper before picking up the hammer.
Pyromancer
Rapid-Fire Attacks, Resurrection
The Pyromancer isall about speed. She generates Flames each round, which speed up all of her equipment. As long as she has enough Stamina to keep herself from burning out, she can wear an opponent down long before they become dangerous.
The Pyromancer also has tricks that allow her toresurrect with a fraction of her maximum HPif she’s defeated. It’s a good way to gain the edge in an even fight, but try not to rely on it - if your opponent kills you once, chances are they can do it again.
If you like tostrike hard and fast, and don’t mind your backpack looking a little cluttered, the Pyromancer offers some fun, effective options to help you win matches.
Like the Berserker, the Pyromancer is recommended for players who have learned the game, rather than complete newcomers.
