What We Know About Season 3
One thing we can say for sure is that Jujutsu Kaisen’s third season is officially happening! The animation team is hard at work bringing the wicked intense Culling Game arc from the manga to our screens. This battle royale throws roughly 1,000 sorcerers into a no-holds-barred supernatural hunger games, all part of some master plan by the ancient sorcerer Kenjaku to optimize Japan’s cursed energy supply (minus Hokkaido, since it’s apparently too holy for these shenanigans).
This arc picks up right after some wild stuff went down in Shibuya, with our fave Jujutsu High students caught up in a magical death match. We’ll meet a bunch of new sorcerers and dangers, plus get some deets on burning questions like what happens to Gojo locked up in his supernatural box, Yuji’s impending execution order, and Yuta’s gig as assigned executioner-in-chief. If they adapt the manga close to panel-for-panel, we’re looking at chapters 159-221, so maybe 23–24 episodes like the previous seasons, give or take.
Sadly, there’s no official premiere date yet, but late 2025 seems likely. Drawing all those badass fight scenes in Jujutsu Kaisen’s signature crisp animated style takes time, especially with the stakes cranked up to 10 this season, so delays wouldn’t shock me. The Culling Games will also introduce major new players like Hana Kurusu, Kinji Hakari, Hiromi Higuruma, and more. I think all these new roles could redefine the series, with life-or-death battles and game-changing revelations.
MAPPA studios is back driving the animation bus for Season 3. If they nail it like the last two seasons, we’ll be left hanging on a killer cliffhanger, dying for more while they (hopefully) start cranking out a fourth season.
