There are shady things afoot inDragon’s Dogma 2. The queen isn’t listening to the people of Vermund, and the current Sovran does little to help anyone but himself. Rumors are swirling about, and many think there are shadowy meetings going on and hidden alliances.
Working with your allies is the only way to figure out what’s going on behind closed doors in Vermund, but you can’t always get access to any place you want, even as the Arisen. You’ll have to dress the part and do a little detective work if you want to get to the bottom of things.

How To Start The Stolen Throne
The Stolen Throne isone of several main quests that Brant offersonce you’ve arrived in Vernworth, and it’s one of the first of them available to you once youspeak to him in the Stardrop Tavern at night.
Brant will inform you that you need toenter an upcoming masqueradeto help him gain intel. He will provide you with anEventide Maskand tell you to alsofind a suitable outfit for the masquerade.

How To Obtain Formal Clothes
If you want tobe able to enterthe masquerade, you’llneed aCourtly TunicandCourtly Breechesequipped, or else you’ll be turned away at the door.
To find both of these,head to the Noble Quarterin Vernworth and go intoany home in the areaexcept for the Townsend’s Estate andthe Rose Chateau Bordelrie.
Youhave a chance to findeither aCourtly Tunic,Courtly Breeches, or both in therooms of almost every house in Noble Quarter, and they’ll generally be in abag beside an NPC’s bed. Some homes thatoften have at least one pieceof the Courtly set include:
you may also find a full set of Courtly clothesbygoing into Vernworth Palaceand opening thetreasure chest in Sven’s room.
Once you’ve got yourCourtly Tunicand Breeches,go back to Brant in the tavern and confirm to himthat you’ve got the right outfit.
How To Investigate The Masquerade
Wait fornight on the right day, then go toVernworth Hallon thewestern side of the castle groundswith theEventide Maskand both Courtly pieces equipped. The guard will allow you into the masquerade, and you’llget a brief cutsceneonce you’re inside.
You can speak to theguardoutside the Vernworth Hallin the evenings andask him if a masquerade is occurringon a given night.
When you’re free to walk around, head into the room and speak to the man in an X robe standing near a pillar. After the conversation, goback towards the entrance, thenfollow the curved hallwayto the end of the building.
Feel along theshort section of back wall between two pillars, and you’llfind a hidden doorthat you can walk through.
If you’ve already gotten the (side quest, A Magisterial Amenity (link here), you canfind the spectacles in the storeroomat the back of the Hall.
Leave Vernworth Hall through the hidden door andfollow the pathuntil youreach the Rose Chateau. As soon as you enter through the curtains, you’llget another cutsceneand end up at the Rose Chateau once it’s over.
Now you canleave the Rose Chateaufrom one of the side rooms or through the main entrance, thenhead back to Brant while it’s still nighttimeto report back to him. In return for the intel you’ve gathered, Brant will reward you with:
