Genshin Impactcontinuously surprises us with the depth of its exploration and world-building happening in the background. Even the most inconspicuous items can hold a special meaning. The nation of Fontaine is particularly rich in history, not just in its broader context, but it also gives a lot of insight into the lives of everyday people.
The unofficial quest Rainbow Rose’s Ideals will take you around the Morte Region. Your goal is to collect eight treasure maps that will lead you to different spots with buried treasure tied to the life story of a few NPCs. Completing this hidden quest will grant you some Primogems from the chests and the hidden achievement “À la volonté du peuple.”
This map belongs to theFontaine Local Legend Liam, who you’re able to findeast of the Weeping Willow of the Lake. However, to find his map youdo not need to fight him.
All you need to do is headunderwater in the area surrounding the Sealed Ruined Tower.
This map is not in the ‘chasm’ where the tower is,it is further away in a Huge Shell by a ruined wallsealed behind a Potential Energy Orb puzzle.Swim through the windowand activate the switch, then complete the puzzle.
His treasure is nearby as well. The map will mark a location somewhere in the mountains in Morte, specificallyon the little islet east of Fort Charybdis Ruins.
Liam’s treasure isguarded by an NPC called Davy Smith, a treasure hoarder. You must defeat him if you want the treasure.
Rocky Avildsen’s Disappearance (Page Two)
This map belongs to anotherFontaine Local Legend, Rocky Avildsen, who you can findnortheast of Weeping Willow of the Lake. Like Liam, defeating him isnot necessary to get his mapor to claim his treasure.
Rocky’s map is alsoin the area surrounding the Sealed Ruined Towerin Morte Region. If you dive into this area and head southeast,as if heading for the Waverider Waypointthat’s on the surface of that same area, you will eventually run intoa Huge Shell containing the map.
To get Rocky’s treasure, you will need todefeat Davy Smith Jr., another treasure hoarder.
Athos' Confession (Page Three)
Athos isa character you can meet in the game, though he is not a Local Legend, he is merely an NPC in a quest. His map isalso located around the Sealed Ruined Towerunderwater area in the Morte Region, as is the case with the majority of the maps.
To find Athos' map, you need tofast travel to the Teleport Waypoint northof the tower and enter the ruins that are right beside it.Take a left immediately as you enterto find a Huge Shell with the map inside.
To find Athos' treasure,head to the waterfall beside Lumidouce Harbor. The treasure isat the bottom of the waterfall, on the shore opposite the harbor.
Parker’s Hopes (Page Four)
The owner of this map is a woman named Parker. Although you do not meet her in the game,you do meet her daughter Penny, who’s the real subject of the map’s inscription.
This map can be foundsouthwest of the Sealed Ruined Tower. you may use theWaverider Waypoint in that general area as a referenceto know just where to swim, as theHuge Shell containing the mapis right under it.
To claim this treasure, you will need tosolve a very simple puzzlelocated on an island righteast of the Weeping Willow of the Lake.
There is asomewhat tall mountainon the island. If you climb it and interact with the prompt, the camera will pan to thelocation of some grass on the shoreto the east of where you’re standing; this is the “fish” mentioned in the map.
Head to the fish, andstand on the little patch of sandon the right, which represents the “eye.” If you’re in the right place,the chest will spawnon the “belly,” right on the same grass patch.
Barrow’s Expectations (Page Five)
Barrow is another unknown NPC, he isParker’s husbandand Penny’s father. Their map inscriptions are practically identical, with the exception thatthey lead to different treasure spots.
Barrow’s map is besidesome ruins northwestof the Sealed Ruined Tower. It can also be foundinside a Huge Shell, as in the other maps.
As for his treasure, the map will lead you toa mountain east of the Fountain of Lucine. Climb the mountain and interact with the prompt at the top, so the camera pans to the place where you should glide to.
The treasure ismarked by some rocks that form a dog’s pawwhen seen from a distance.
Autumn’s Regrets (Page Six)
Autumn is another NPC you’re able to meetthrough completing a world quest, even though she has a different name in it, and her map is also in thegeneral area of the Sealed Ruined Tower.You can find Autumn’s map inside a Huge Shell right southeast of the tower, and the shell is located above the arch leading to some ruins.
Autumn’s treasure islocked behind two puzzles.
The first puzzle is aContaminated Bacterial Mats puzzle. You can solve this by attacking the self-healing Contaminated Bacterial Mats with theXenochromatic Ball Octopus abilitieswhich you can obtain from a machine by the water.
Clearing out the pollution willopen up a portalthat will transport you into ahidden room underground. Interact with the book on the desk, and it will let you read it;the book contains clues to solve the second puzzle.
The instructions say: “Start by the chair, in the water, by the fire, and finally, on the wall.”
This is theorder in which you have to pull four levers; the instructions are direct, so the levers are easy to find and within a few steps of one another. Thischest will spawn inside a little chamberand not in plain sight.
There is another quest object, aFoggy Forest Branch, inside a different chest you can find in this secret room. The chest willalready be therethe first time you access the room.
If you havealready entered this roomby completing that other hidden quest, thenthe easiest way to access it again is through the well.
Rouge’s Writings (Page Seven)
Rouge isanother NPC you’re able to meet during a world quest. As usual, that quest will beunrelated to finding the mapor the treasure, though Rouge is the only character that will have political dialogue, which ties into the contents of the maps.
To find Rouge’s map, headnortheast of the Sealed Ruined Towerand find a broken stone wall, and the map will bein the Huge Shell behind it. To get Rouge’s treasure,fast travel to the Teleport Waypoint east of the Weeping Willow of the Lakeand head further east, to the ruined house.
You will need to hit the three trees there for the chest to spawn.
Freeman’s Announcement (Page Eight)
Freeman can be found at The Rusty Rudder,a ruined ship opposite Lumidouce Harborserving as a bar where he can be found at all times. His map isthe furthest from the rest, as it is in the area east of the Sealed Ruined Towerwhere the soil begins to turn yellow; however, it isstill inside a Huge Shell, just like the others.
As for his treasure, it can also befound in The Rusty Rudder and all you need to do to claim it is solve the torch puzzle.
