As you oversee the operations of your Vault Dwellers inFallout Shelter, you’ll find that some are better suited to Vault life than others. Every Dweller has individual stats that make them SPECIAL, and these traits are what you should be looking at when assigning them to different rooms.
These stats can be quite low when you start out, but there are ways to make your Vault Dwellers tougher. Everyone has a place in the Vault, and if everyone’s going to survive, it will take cooperation and SPECIAL skills to make it work. Here’s everything you need to know to run a very SPECIAL Vault!

What Happens When You Level Up?
In many video games, leveling up grants a boost to your stats. In Fallout Shelter, however, only the Dweller’s HP increases. Leveling up is important fordealing with incidents and exploringthe wasteland, and having plenty of HP willhelp them survive.
Still, the SPECIAL stats you see are whatneed to be improvedto have the most efficient Vault you may. Thankfully, there’s a way to do that.

How To Improve SPECIAL Stats
To make your Vault Dwellers all the more SPECIAL, you’ll need tobuild training rooms. There are seven training rooms thatcorrespond to each stat, and your Dwellers can work in those rooms toincrease the desired stat.
Additionally, the following stats provide bonuses:
Strength
Increases Attack, Defense, and their ability to pick a lock when exploring.
Perception
Impacts the likelihood of a Dweller finding new locations while exploring the wasteland. It also slows down the critical hit meter speed.
Endurance
Adds to the Dweller’s maximum HP each time they level up. This also affects their happiness when assigned to a Storage room.
Charisma
Increases the speed at which dwellers romance one another and also increases the chance of meeting friendly NPCs in the wastelands when exploring.
Intelligence
Increases the chance of being able to help other NPCs they come across in the wasteland and to deal with enemies more efficiently.
Impacts how fast a Dweller attacks per round.
Luck
Increases the chances of a successful Rush, how many resources you can earn from each room, and how many items you find in the wasteland.
Below is a table of each training room and how they can help your Vault Dwellers excel:

How To Breed Better Dwellers
Additionally, you canselectively breed Vault Dwellersto get the desired stats. Parents withhigh stats will pass them onto any offspring, so pairingtwo Dwellers with different high statswill create a child that takes after them.
It will take time for the children to grow up, butrinse and repeat the processto design Vault Dwellers with desirable traits you can use to maximize efficiency. This frees up other Vault Dwellers to explore while the most SPECIAL ones stay safe at home.
