The popular first-person shooter game,Fortnite, has special collectibles and achievements in its seasons. It’s fun to know if you’ve reached a career best during a match, or collect gold bars to spend in vending machines and with various NPCs. It’s that attention to detail that makes the game special.

From map changes, to bits of lore on loading screen art, Fortnite is always trying to keep things fresh by innovating and introducing mechanics we’ll either hate, or love. Accolades have been around a long time, but without so much as an in-game introduction. What are these mysterious accolades, anyway?

What Are Accolades?

If you’ve played some Fortnite Battle Royale recently, you probably noticed anindicator on the left side of your screenat the end of matches keeping a tally of something calledaccolades. No direct explanation is given in the game,so what are these accolades? Accolades arepoints you gain from certain achievements.

Accolades are the gold notifications you get in the upper center of your screenduring a match. You might get a Weapon Specialist notice if you eliminate multiple people with the same weapon, for example.

Accoladesgive you battle pass experiencewhether you’replaying a normal Battle Royale mode, or in some caseswhen visiting certain creator islands.

How To Get Accolades

Since accoladesresult in more battle pass experience, it’s a good idea to find out how to gain more of them. You canrack up more accolades naturally as you play the gameby doing activities such as meeting a certain number of players remaining, looting boxes and chests, and more.

You cancheck your accolades after a matchby selecting the tab titled’Match Stats'. It will give you a summary overview of the match, along with all the cool accolades you earned.

Some accoladeswill give you credit as soon as you do complete them, such as accolades for being the first in a match to do a particular action.Other accolades are cumulative, and you’ll need to keep doing an action a certain number of times to earn the achievement for it.

One type of activity can result in numerous accolades. For example, you’re able to get an accolade for being thefirst person in the match to fish, but you can also earn accolades for catching all the available types of fish, as well as fishing a certain number of times.

Chances are, you won’t need to do anything special to gain your battle pass experience with accolades asyou’ll earn most of them by naturallylooting everything you see, fishing, talking to NPCs, and surviving.

If you really want to make the most of the accolade battle pass experience, wait untilyou have thesupercharged experience boostand complete as many questsand earn as many accolades as possible.

Aim toland as quickly as possible in a match, so you have a betterchance to gain accolades from looting chests and ammo boxes, or talking to NPCs.
