Summary
The future of physical games media is uncertain.PlayStationandXbox’s latest consoles have digital-only versions, and big games likeAlan Wake 2and the upcoming Hellblade 2 won’t have physical versions. Retailers are showing signs of following that trend, not only via Best Buy’s announcement that it won’t be selling DVDs and Blu-rays anymore, but also via what appears to be repeated attempts by Walmart to rid its stores of all physical video game stock.
The latest indicator that might be what’s happening comes courtesy ofWario64. The first postshowed Unicorn Overlord in-store for just $30. That prompted followers of the account to share some of the great deals they’ve found in Walmart locations near them and turns out there are a lot of them.Fire Emblem Engage and Mario Strikers Battle League for $20 each, andthe fantastic Nier Automata for as little as $10.

While it’s certainly worth heading to your local Walmart to check what bargains you might mind, there’s no guarantee any of these games will be available for as little as they are listed elsewhere, if they’re still in stock at all.
Ring Fit Adventure For Only $30
The biggest bargain discovered so far is forRing Fit Adventure. The fitness game, complete with all of the accessories you need to play it, has been spotted for just $30 in certain Walmart locations. Usually $80 due to everything you get with it and very rarely on sale due to how well it has sold despite the lofty price. Selling more than 15 million copies, putting it right up there among the Switch’s best sellers,Nintendohas clearly never felt the need to drop Ring Fit Adventure’s price.
That most of the heavily discounted games discovered so far are on Switch is particularly telling, perhaps suggesting Walmart is trying to sell through stock before Nintendo makes an announcement of some sort. There have been some non-Switch discoveries too, though. The complete edition of The Witcher 3 on PS5has been spotted for just $20.Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Series X|Shas also been spotted for $30.
Some Walmart shoppers have noted seeing a few games on sale for just three cents, and no, that’s not a typo. However, those same people have claimed they’ve been refused sale when trying to buy those games. This is likely an indicator that the games have been marked for removal from sale. An internal message to Walmart employees earlier this year detaileddropping the price of physical copies of Starfieldbefore removing them from shelves. Not so they could be sold for pennies, but so they could be processed internally when removed from sale.
