Everyone is flocking back to the Wasteland thanks to the newFalloutTV series, but Bethesda’s focus is still squarely onStarfieldright now.
In a new interview withIGN, Todd Howard said that the team is doing “a lot of Starfield work” and has “some really good updates that are going to get announced soon”. He didn’t elaborate on what those updates are, but Bethesda has talked a little bit about its plans for 2024 already.
Everything We Know About Starfield DLC
Last year, Bethesda announced the first Starfield expansion - Shattered Space. We don’t know much about it yet, butan unknown app was added to the DLC section of the game’s Steam pagein March, pointing to an imminent reveal and release.
Bethesda said at the end of 2023 that Shattered Space would be launching this year, adding “new story content, new locations, new gear, and much more”, so it certainly lines up. We haven’t heard any specific details about it yet, but perhaps those “really good updates” will shed some light on what we can expect.
Aside from the DLC, Starfield has been receiving frequent updates every six weeks since February, and Bethesda has plans to introduce new gameplay options and difficulties (such as survival mechanics), as well as official mod support.
Starfield had a pretty rough launch. While it reviewed fairly well among critics, the score quickly dropped to ‘Mixed’ on Steam as many called out how empty its galaxy was and how repetitive its many open worlds were. Perhaps Shattered Space will address these complaints, but until Bethesda actually reveals the DLC, we can only speculate on what it will include.
In the meantime, as is Bethesda tradition,the modding community has picked up the torch. Fans have added giant mechs, farming, and the ability to turn outposts into cities with DLC-sized expansions of their own. If you’re on PC, it’s worth a look while you wait for Shattered Space.
