InPalia, there are several types of activities you can do to pass the time, whether you want to grow crops, build furniture to decorate your house, or toss out a fishing line. Hop in the game and you’ll even get to check out the Maji Market, which is back in honor of the Majiri Luna New Year.

The Maji Market has plenty of sights to see and treats to eat, and you get to see all the people of Kilima enjoy themselves in the festivities. You can even check out a fun Hotpot Minigame, which involves matching up tiles to get some rewards.

TheMaji Market: Luna New Yearevent ends on June 08, 2025.

How The Hotpot Minigame Works

To begin a match of theHotpot Minigame, you’ll first need to head tothe hotpot tables on the docks of the Kilima Fairgrounds. Gather up a group of four people, either with your friends or random players already at a table.

Aspart of the Maji Market, the Hotpot Minigame canonly be played between the in-game hours of 6pm and 3am. If you’re in the middle of a game at 3am, you will still be able to finish it.

TheHotpot Minigame will automatically start after a certain amount of time, even if there are less than four real players. In this case, other Kilima townsfolk will fill in.

Each player getsa starting set of nine floating tileson their side of the hotpot table. Each round, you get the opportunity todraw a new tile and switch it out with one you already have.

Each player’smost recent discarded tile will float in the center hotpot. Each turn, players can drawa new tile from the deckin the center, ortake another player’s discarded tile.

You’ll see thatthe tiles represent all different kinds of items you’ve encountered in Palia, such as mushrooms or Sernuk meat or ramen noodles. These are separated intodifferent suites:

In each suite, there are only three types of tiles. For example, the Green suite has cabbage, green onion, and bok choy tiles.

The goal of the Hotpot Minigame is to create matching sets of tiles. This can be done in two ways:

Two tiles of the same item, and a third from the same suite, does not count as a matching set, and will not give points.

The first person to getthree sets of tilesthat fit in these rules is declaredthe winner.

How To Win The Hotpot Minigame

Thankfully, the Hotpot Minigame isn’t too competitive.Everybody at the table gets the same amount of Lucky Envelopes as a reward. You still want to win for bragging rights, of course.

You’ll also want to try andwin several Hotpot Minigames to fill out one of your Stamp Cardsfor the event.

A matching trio of the same tile rewards more pointsthan a suite trio of tiles. So, you’ll want to try andfocus on getting three tiles of the same item.

Keep an eye on other player’s discarded tiles. They might give up something you need, and you can snatch it up on your next turn.

There areonly four tiles of each type in each game, so keep this in mind when strategizing about what you want to match up. Unless another player has a tile you need, focus on drawing tiles from the deck.

Keep checking the discarded tiles tabthroughout the game. There might be several discarded tiles from the suite you are trying to match up in your hand, and if so, you might want to try something different.

Hotpot Minigames tend to end around the tenth round, give or take. So at that time, just attempt to match up what you may.

Again, everybody at the table getsthe same amount of Lucky Enveloperewards at the end.Two good matching sets in your hand are better than none, and help everybody at the table.

If you’replaying with friends, try strategizing with everyone to get the most amount of points you can.
