The platformer genre enjoyers are starting 2024 right with the release ofPrince Of Persia: The Lost Crown, a long-awaited addition to the Prince of Persia series. This time, you’ll head on a journey with Sargon as the main protagonist as you try to restore the balance in Persia.
Once you finish the tutorial stage, you’ll reach Mount Qaf, which is a giant map with 13 distinct biomes. Each biome has something special about it, and you’d want to keep a few tips in mind before you embark on this journey.
You Can Easily Find Wak-Wak Trees
Once you get to the main map of Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown called Mount Qaf,you’ll soon encounter a tree with golden leaves called the Wak-Wak tree. These will be the most important part of your journey since you can heal to full health when you interact with them. Apart from healing, these trees have a lot of other functions:
As you can see, when you’re exploring around the giant map, one of themost important goals will be to find every Wak-Wak tree that you can. Thankfully, this isn’t too hard since there will be a golden wind whenever you’re near a tree and you will also see some golden petals on the ground.
Simply follow the golden wind’s direction andyou’ll easily get to the tree in no time.
The tree also has adistinct bell-ringing audioin its vicinity.
Use Map Markers And Memory Shards
When a game has a huge 2D map with multiple hidden sections, it’s very common tohave a set of collectibles that you’d want to get for a completionist run. In this game, it becomes even more important to get these collectibles since you need them for various upgrades, and you may even get more Amulet Slots from certain chests.
you may get multiple Time Powers as you continue the main story, andsome collectibles even in the starter areas require you to get a certain power. However, you can’t just leave it and hope that you’ll remember the location. This is where the map markers and Memory Shards come into play.
Memory Shards are limited, soyou should always use them sparingly.
Memory Shards are special items introduced in Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown, and you can see the amount you have on the top-left of your screen. If you currently have a shard, you can simplypress the displayed button beside the number of shards to create an image, which stays on the map for your perusal from anywhere.
However, if you don’t have any Memory Shards left, you’re able to also use the game’s marking system by heading to the map and pressing the displayed button to place a marker. It’srecommended to have different markers for different secret areas.
Don’t Force Through Boss Fights
As mentioned above, if you get knocked down in a boss fight,you may easily respawn in the fight itself. However, you lose ten Crystals every time you get defeated by the boss enemy, so it might not be the best idea to constantly retry the battle unless you’re coming super close to finishing it.
Of course, with the kind of game this is, you might have totry the boss a few times to memorize its attack pattern and learn the parry timing. But if you still can’t beat it in over six to seven tries, it might be time to explore around the map and get some upgrades to your weapon or health before retrying it.
Thankfully, the game has aFast Travel location near all the main bosses, so you can easily get back to them.
Be Prepared For Traps
Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown works on aroom-based system where you only load a certain area at a time. This is important to keep the game optimized, but it also opens the way to send you to trap rooms without you being able to prevent it. There are different kinds of trap rooms in the game.
If the room only consists of traps like spikes or blades, you can choose to avoid it. However, if you enter a trap roomwhere the game blocks your entry and exit before spawning a bunch of enemies, you’ll have no way to escape these. It’s better to be prepared for these kinds of rooms, especially during the late game.
Spend Crystals When You Can
Crystals are the main currency for this game, and you can get them byexploring, defeating enemies, finishing quests, or opening chests around the map. You can also lose a bunch of Crystals by getting knocked down in battle, and unlike other platformer games, you can’t simply get these Crystals back from your body.
Hence, it’s important to not hoard too many of these and keepvisiting vendors to spend them on upgrades or new amulets. Some of the best places to spend your Crystals are upgrading your weapons at Kaheva The Blacksmith or upgrading your potions at The Mage.
