BeforeXboxshifted its focus to releasing its games on other platforms, it appeared to have a mild obsession with filling our kitchens with Xbox-branded appliances. Born fromsomeone saying the Series X looked like a fridge, Xbox leaned into the meme by actually turning its console into a refrigerator. Despite no one saying theSeries Slooks like a toaster, Xbox decided it needed something to accompany its fridge range, and now that toaster is available for just $40.
Usually $85, the Series S toaster is better than half-price at Walmart. With an extra wide slot, the Series S toaster can comfortably take care of bagels and crumpets as well as regular old bread. How good the Xbox logo printed on your breakfast will look if it isn’t bread being toasted is unclear. Oh, yeah, other than looking like a Series S, the toaster’s other big gimmick is that it turns your next meal into an edible Xbox advert.

My favorite thing about the toaster isn’t Xbox-related at all. There’s a digital timer letting you know how long you have left until whatever it is you’re toasting pops back up. No more arguing over whether the dial on your toaster dictates how long the toast stays down or if it controls the temperature. The Series S toaster answers that question once and for all. Unless it differs from toaster to toaster. Mystery still unsolved, I guess.
Xbox Series S Toaster
The Xbox Series S Toaster is a home appliance that resembles the Xbox Series S. It can fit two small slices of bread or one large one, and will burn the Xbox logo into the toast. It features multiple settings and an LED display to count down the time remaining.
On the one hand, the Series S toaster getting its price cut by more than half suggests not as many people want their kitchens to look like the inside of Phil Spencer’s head as Xbox might have thought. On the other hand, even the most hardened console warrior would likely think twice about paying $85 for a toaster, even if it does turn your toast into a little brown billboard. $40, on the other hand, might just be low enough to convince a few people to gamify their bread-based breakfast products.
If it sells well enough, perhaps the Series S edition will be the first in a range of Xbox toasters. The full-size Series X fridge caused such a stir that Xbox turned it into a mini fridge. Three of them, actually, all slightly different sizes. Perhaps it will start turning some of its other hardware into kitchen appliances in the future. The original Xbox would make a fantastic air fryer, and the 360 can be one of those really narrow dishwashers.
