Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthsends our heroes to Gongaga in Chapter 9. On the way there, you might bump into an eccentric blacksmith named Izo who takes a keen interest in Barret’s gun-arm. Before you know it, you’ll be conscripted for another side quest, this time starring Barret.

Here’s where you’ll find Izo, what you’ll do for the guy, how you’ll do it, and what you’ll get as a reward. It’s possible to complete this quest, ‘The Pursuit of Perfection’, at any point until FF7 Rebirth’s point of no return, but we’ll tell you how to fire up Izo’s forge as early as possible.

How To Begin ‘The Pursuit Of Perfection’

‘The Pursuit of Perfection’ pops up on Gongaga’s Community Boardfollowing the chapter’s pivotal plot events at the Gongaga Reactor. But if you want to knock it out ahead of schedule,the client, Izo, can be contacted before you ever step foot in Gongaga.

Izo’s Shack is locatednortheast of Gongaga, andthe party enters Gongaga’s region map from the north. With that in mind, you’ll find Izo’s Shack before Gongaga if youhead southeast from your starting position near the river.

Head into Izo’s shack, whether you found him preemptively or read his request on the Community Board, anda cutscene will play out with Barretwhen you speak with the fellow.

Izo needs the team tolocate draconite deposits, but first, we’ll need his map.Get the map from the tool shack to the south of Izo’s Shack, and be sure to grab a variety of resources while you’re at it.

Where To Find The Draconite Deposits

You can sleuth it all out yourself with Izo’s directions, which will lead you to the draconite deposit by showing youa series of angled depictions of nearby landmarks.Alternatively, you can follow our directions.

Gathering The Deposits And Getting The Reward

You’ll need to dispatchfour Daggerwing enemiesbefore the ore is firmly yours for the taking. If you’re atthe quest’s recommended level of 31, they oughtn’t be much more difficult than any of the other local fauna, like theChimera Mantis.

Two of the ore depositswill be found at ground level. Look closely, however, and you’ll finda rope leading up to a ledge with the remaining two deposits.

All that’s left to do is toreturn to Izo. After a thoughtful scene, the quest concludes. The following rewards are yours:
