Choosing your vocation inDragon’s Dogma 2is no easy task, but if you’re a fan of high damage per second (DPS) builds, then the Thief is for you. Whether you prefer to roleplay or steamroll the enemy, Thief has Weapon Skills that will appeal to various playstyles.
Aside from the high roleplay potential, a Thief offers practical combat power as well as utility skills for stealing items and blending into the environment. The best Thief build in Dragon’s Dogma 2 will primarily focus on the damage department, honing in on the vocation’s greatest asset.
This build is primarily designed for a Thief with a maxed-out vocation, some endgame gear, and access to Augments from other vocations.
However,alternativesare recommended if you do not have everything unlocked/acquired.
Thief Build Overview
A Thief is a master of damage, deception, and evasion, channeling expertise over these dark arts to becomea deadly threat on the battlefield.
Daggersare the main method of damage for a Thief, so prepare to get up close and personal with your foes. These tools will be your best friends that caneasily eviscerate enemy groups, or bring downbehemoth-sized bosses.
This Thief build is all aboutdamage. Whether you’re in a massive brawl or you’re staring down a dragon, your weapon skills will give you theflexibility to adjust to any combat situation.
You’ll be relying on each of your Weapon Skills to perform a key function for you in battle, withthree key sources of damage, depending on the situation.
Unlike othermelee vocations, like Warriors, the Thief relies onquick strikes and movementsto stay safe while keeping the enemy on their toes.
Skills & Augments
For this Dragon’s Dogma 2 Thief build, you’re focusing on thedamage potential of your blades, primarily with theSkull Splitter Weapon Skill.
Effect
Skull Splitter
Leap up, thendivein the air withspinningblades. More powerful from greater heights. This can be used mid-air.
Cutting Wind
Dashespast the target with blades extended. This can be followed by moreslasheswhen attacking on contact.
Acceleratesyour reactions toevade all attacksfrom hostiles. Will constantly usestaminawhen active.
Blades of the Pyre
Slams your daggerstogether toignitean inferno so potent that you cannot escape being burned.
WhileBlades of the Pyre(BotP) may seem like a bad Weapon Skill, whencombined with Formless Feint, you will avoid all damage when using BotP, due to the effect of the Feint’s evasions.
Combining Formless Feint with Blades of the Pyre makes youa walking time bomb.
Just be careful not to use it too often, or you’llrun out of Lantern Oil, by consuming it when using BotP.
For the most part,Skull Splitter can carry you through most engagements,soloing large enemies like ogreswithout any trouble.
You can switch out Blades of the Pyre and Formless Feint for options likeDraw and QuarterorMasterful Killif you prefer more traditional DPS options.
Augments
Your Augments are very flexible, butThief demands heavy Stamina usage, so combining Augments that will bothboost your Staminaor conserve it somehow is essential tomaintain consistent DPSwith a Thief.
Thief
Vigor
Reduces the Stamina consumed when clinging to or pinning down foes.
ReducestheStaminaconsumed when performing a weaponskill.
Warfarer
If youhaven’t unlocked all of these augments, or you prefer defensive options, feel free to choose from analternative:
Bestows30Strengthduring the day and 30 Magick at night.
Magick Spearhand
If you’re missing these Augments, aim for anything that increases your Stamina, Strength, or Defense, in that order.
Equipment
Weapon choice is extremely important, butyour armor is a little bit more flexible, as your sense of fashion can override function in most cases. However, the Thief is remarkably synchronized in both fashion and function, as some of the best gear available for a Thief is extremely snazzy.

Warbler Capelet
The Warbler Capelet, Arena Breeches, Enshadowed Battle Garb, and Confidant’s Hood are easy to find in the early game.

If you haven’treached the endgame or NG+and acquired Heaven’s Key, you’re able to useFrosted Edges, which provideice damage instead of Holy.
