Whether you’re looking to defend yourself against invaders or to become an enemy in someone else’s game, then, you need to know how to prepare your spellcaster character for PvP.
While bosses are all about pattern recognition and punishing your enemy, the rules are different when playing against a human. Your fellow Tarnished are far less predictable and move very fast, which means good PvP spells are those that can be used quickly, interrupt the enemy and track their position with more precision. 11Catch Flame
An Excellent Get-Off-Me Spell
Catch Flame emits a small burst of fire that burns the enemy immediately in front of you. Its short range might be a downside for some, as it’s very difficult to use if you and your opponent are averse to closing in on each other. However, since you’re able to chain-cast this Incantation, it’s possible to keep the heat on your enemy by emitting multiple bursts in a row. As of patch 1.07,Wrath of Goldcan also be charged to increase the damage it deals and its area of effect,making it a great defensive tool that also has some offensive potential.
Where To Find Wrath Of Gold
Wrath of Golf does not need to be purchased, as it can be found in the basement of Woodfolk Ruins. The location is right in the middle of Altus Plateau, and is well worth venturing to.
9Carian Piercer
A Magical Melee Strike Capable Of Piercing Shields
Carian Piercer has alow FP cost and high damage potential,a fantastic combination. That’s because its piercing attack reaches so far that you’re able to charge it from a relatively safe distance while waiting for your enemy to approach you.
Carian Piercer’s range and duration also make it perfect for punishing an adversary trying to roll away from you.
Finally, Carian Piercer can still hurt the opponent even if they have a shield, as its magical damage ignores the defenses of most shields. All in all, it severely limits the target’s options in PvP, but timing and positioning are crucial to get the best from it.

To get Carian Piercer yourself, you need to kill a Teardrop Scarab located in Caria Manor. You’ll find it in an area behind the gardens.
8The Flame Of Frenzy
Fill The Madness Meter Of Your Opponent With This Most Unusual Projectile
As the name of this Incantation betrays, The Flame of Frenzy emits a burst ofthe ethereal yellow energy of the Frenzied Flame. Besides dealing fire damage, The Flame of Frenzy also builds up the adversary’s Madness meter, which takes a good chunk of HP if filled. For your enemy, it’s extremely hard to dodge every burst of frenzied flame, and the caster can adjust its direction by moving the camera as they use the Incantation.

7Magic Glintblade
A Rather Weak, Yet Very Tricky, Projectile
Magic Glintblade creates a sigil that shoots a projectile in a straight line at an enemy after a small delay. This delay is the key to confusing human adversaries, as it’s hard to dodge while still being attacked. While Magic Glintblade doesn’t do a lot of damage, its low FP cost and quick casting make it perfect for a fast-paced PvP duel. With practice, it can be cleverly mixed into your offense, so other Tarnished can’t tell what you’re going to do next.

6Fortissax’s Lightning Spear
A Lightning Spear Dunk
Fortissax’s Lighting Spear is an incredibly useful tool to use in tandem with other quick-casting spells or incantations.
It’s best to cast Fortissax’s Lightning Spear when you’re close to your opponent, as the damage increases the closer you are. The stance damage is great when used to finish a combination, as the longer cast time (which can be charged) isbest used as a follow-up.

Keep Your Opponent At Bay With A Barrage Of Magical Homing Missiles
Casting Star Shower conjures six homing projectiles that chase the enemy. This Sorcery has great tracking and can travel long distances, which means you can put some pressure on your adversary even from long range. The more evasive your opponent is, the more utility this spell will have, and it can even force them to entirely rethink their combat strategy.
Where To Find Star Shower
To get the Star Shower Sorcery, first, you need to find the Conspectus Scroll at the Great Hall of the Raya Lucaria Academy. You can deliver this scroll to Miriel, Sellen, or Seluvis to expand their inventory. After doing just that, Star Shower will then be available for 10,000 Runes. This is relatively quite steep, soRune-farming areas may be of use here.
4Bestial Sling
A Simple Yet Effective Shotgun Blast Of Rocks
Bestial Slingthrows a shower of rocks and shards toward your enemythat are quite hard to dodge. This Incantation deals physical damage and only demands a measly level 10 in the Faith stat to be cast, meaning it can be easily used by almost any build. That makes Bestial Sling a surprising tool to use against all sorts of challengers in PvP.

Gurranq gives you the Bestial Sling Incantation after delivering him two Deathroots in the Bestial Sanctum. Deathroot drops from specific bosses, such as Tibia Mariners and Black Knives, but can also be found in chests.
3Carian Slicer
A Fast-Swinging Magical Blade Foes Will Need To Be Very Careful Around
Carian Slicer conjures a magic blade you can swing like a swordby recasting it repeatedly. It’s a fast way to punish your adversary for not boosting their magic defenses. While highly effective in close-range combat, Carian Slicer can still be parried just as a regular weapon can, so you’ll need to watch out for that.
As useful as it can be in a quickfire fashion, then, it’s to be used to press an advantage rather than thoughtlessly thrown out.

The Carian Slicer spell becomes available to buy for 1,500 Runes after you deliver the Royal House Scroll to Miriel, Sellen, or Seluvis. The Royal House Scroll is found east of the Agheel Lake South Site of Grace, on a hill filled with spellcasting enemies.
2Honed Bolt
A Fearsome Bolt Of Lightning That Does More Than Just Deal Damage
Most Dragon Cult Incantations have aslow casting time and short-range area of effectthat makes them better suited for PvE. Not Honed Bolt. This Incantation summons a lightning bolt directly above your enemy, which can interrupt their Estus animation and seal your victory if carefully timed.
Add in a quick casting time and a low FP cost and you have one of Elden Ring’s best PvP tools.
