Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’ssecond season has released a handful of new weapons for players to earn. The mid-season update added an additional weapon to the sandbox: the SOA Subverter, this game’s take on the ARX 200. This weapon is highly accurate, deals excellent damage, and has a fire rate that competes with most assault rifles.

While a powerful weapon on paper, it can be somewhat tough to make builds for due to its limited barrel and stock options. Fortunately, we have created some powerful builds that turn the SOA Subverter into the ultimate battle rifle. We have two builds to share today, but before we do, let’s first explain how you can get your hands on the SOA Subverter in Modern Warfare 3.

Modern Warfare 3 SOA Subverter Battle Rifle

How To Unlock The SOA Subverter

The SOA Subverter is unlocked bycompleting at least five challenges from Week 5 of Season 2.You can view your challenges by pressing “Escape” on PC or “Start” for controllers, heading over to the “Challenges” tab, and then selecting the “Weekly Challenges” menu. You only need to complete five challenges to finish this challenge. It can be challenges from Multiplayer, MWZ, Warzone, or a mix of all three.

Unlocking The SOA Subverter After Season 2

Once Season 2 ends, the SOA Subverter will be added tothe Armory Unlock system. Simply select the weapon and complete the listed number of Daily Challenges to unlock it.

Once unlocked, you’ll find the SOA Subverter in the Battle Rifle category of the Create-A-Class menu. The weapon has 17 levels in total with no aftermarket conversion kits. It functions identically to the BAS-B, trading mobility for increased range and upper torso damage.

Accuracy SOA Subverter Build

The SOA Subverter is a highly accurate weapon out of the box, yet its horizontal recoil can make landing long-range shots difficult. This build addresses that by speccing heavily intohorizontal recoil controlandfiring aim stability, turning this weapon into a laser that can land headshots from 50+ meters away, perfect for Warzone and Ground War players alike.

We start by equipping theDozer-90 Long Barrelto increase the SOA Subverter’s range and recoil control. This makes the shot groupings on this weapon rather tight, but the horizontal recoil is still an issue. Fortunately, you can easily fix this with theCasus Brake Lmuzzle and theFTAC SP-10 Angled Grip, both of which provide substantial bonuses to your horizontal recoil control.

Since the vertical recoil is still somewhat high, we use theSTT-88 Precision Stockto tighten the gun’s recoil pattern without harming its ADS speed. Finally, we equip the30 Round Magsince the gun’s default magazine size of 20 is ill-suited for core Multiplayer and Warzone. With all five attachments, this weapon has virtually zero recoil and can four-tap opponents out to 27 meters.

Loadout Recommendations

Since this build doesn’t use a suppressor, you’ll be on the radar regardless. We use theEngineer Vestto greatly reduce the cooldown of theMed BoxField Upgrade, reducing your HP recovery time significantly. This lasts until you die, so you effectively have Quick Fix after using the Med Box. So long as you’re able to keep killing enemies, you’ll have a Med Box for virtually every life.

As for the other perks, the only other hard requirement isMag Holster. This substantially cuts down on the SOA’s reload time. UseEODorTac Maskas your second gear perk, and equip your favorite pair of gloves. For equipment, you’re able to use any secondary you please. Tacticals don’t matter for this build, but we always recommendStimsto get your HP back faster after a gunfight.

Aggressive SOA Subverter Build

While we can’t turn the SOA Subverter into a proper SMG, we can make this weapon behave much closer to a lightweight AR with a specific attachment combination. This build increases the SOA’smobility statswith as little impact on the gun’s handling stats as possible. The end result is a weapon with a strafe speed of 3.1 m/s and an ADS time of 272ms. Considering this is a battle rifle, that’s quite impressive.

The secret sauce lies in theChewk Angled Grip, an underrated underbarrel attachment that doubles as a strafe speed and horizontal recoil attachment, all for the small cost of 5% ADS speed. We can get this back with theFervor 762 Short Barrel, further increasing the gun’s strafe speed. Since aggressive builds tend to get behind enemy lines, we use theFR Titan Silencerto stay off enemy radar while buffing the gun’s firing aim stability.

We then use the30 Round Magto assist the SOA’s killing power in core Multiplayer modes. For the final attachment slot, you have a few options. You can throw on an optic, use an ammo attachment, or equip a laser. We opted to use theCorio LAZ-44 V3since it helps lower the gun’s ADS speed to assault rifle levels. You could opt to use a stock or rear grip instead, but we find those slots have subpar options for an aggressive build like this.

Stealth is a core part of most aggressive builds in MW3, and this loadout is no different. We use theAssassin Vestto gain permanent uptime on Ghost, a perk that keeps you off enemy UAVs and similar radar sources. Paired withCovert Sneakers, you become incredibly hard to detect. Since this gun’s reload time is quite long, we useMag Holsterto bring its reload time closer to your average AR or SMG.

For aggressive players, theCommando Glovesallow you to reload while sprinting, although you can drop this for any perk. Equipment is also mostly down to preference. If you aren’t sure what to run, giveStimsandThrowing Knivesa try.
