When you startRise of the Ronin, you can create your own character - well, characters - and choose which ability scores you want to specialize in between strength, dexterity, charm, and intellect. Each of those comes with skills that you can further upgrade using your skill points. There’s a lot to get here, though, especially considering some skills can be upgraded multiple times.

Deciding which of these you should pick strongly depends on your play style, of course, but some of these are worth it in most situations you have to face, either from being straight buffs to necessary things such as health to abilities that may ease your adventure through Japan.

10Health Recovery Wave - Charm

Heal Thyself And Thy Allies

Sometimes, you’ll have allies during the fights ahead of you. While you can swap between these characters, they all share the same pool of healing and buffing items, meaning only one of them can take advantage of Medicinal Pills.

With this skill, your allies' health bars will also recover whenever you use a healing item on yourself, making things slightly better for you and the team. It’s an effective way to turn the fight in your favor.

9Ki Consumption (Guardian) - Strength

The Best Offense Is A Good Defense

Rise of Ronin has a stamina bar that will deplete with every attack, roll, and block. This means you have to be careful not to waste too much of it right away, as it will leave you open to be attacked. With this skill, blocking will cost less.

Essentially, this is a good skill to prevent your bar from ending too soon, especially against enemies who have long combos and will attack you repeatedly. It’s always nice to keep your guard up.

8Rapid Assassination - Dexterity

The More, The Merrier

If you like being stealthy, this game has got you covered - it’s even a good tactic to make things easier for you in higher difficulties, since you’re able to take a few minions out one at a time. Or rather, two at a time.

Rapid Assassination allows you to perform double kills when you go for a stealth kill, and there are two enemies close to one another. While enemies can be a bit further from one another sometimes, you can combine this with luring items for ultimate efficiency.

7Max Health - Strength

Obviously

Do we even need to explain this one? This game can be particularly difficult, especially in its highest setting, and while that is what makes it fun in the first place, you have to make sure you can survive what’s to come.

You can upgrade this one multiple times, and while you won’t be able to make all upgrades early in the game, you can still go for it relatively early, allowing you to prepare yourself for future fights.

6Beast Whisperer - Charm

For Woodland Allies

Some enemies have animals by their side, which are nearly impossible to sneak up on. Beast Whisperer will fix that, but there’s more.

Once it’s further upgraded, you can also use it to tame an animal rather than kill it when you sneak on it, meaning you have one less enemy to worry about during the next fight.

5Flash Attack - Strength

For More Versatility

This game prioritizes combat a lot, as you may see through its weapons, combat styles, and combos, among other things. You can walk around with two melee weapons, which already give you versatility in combat, but swapping between them during combat can actually be dangerous.

Thus, Flash Attacks lets you perform a combo that starts with the weapon you’re currently equipped with and ends with your other weapon. Thus, you can change equipment during a fight while also hurting the enemy - or at least without being vulnerable during the swap.

4Upgrade Rifle Performance - Intellect

Headshots Make Everything Easier

One of the best sub-weaponsin the game are the rifles, due to the absurd amount of damage they can cause, especially if you hit your enemies in the head. Because of that, it’s surprising how quickly rifle upgrades appear in the skill tree.

You can also upgrade this more than once, giving yourself more damage and a better zoom so you can be sure you’ll get a headshot that can completely eliminate weaker enemies from the fight.

3Grappling Rope Assassination - Dexterity

For Stealthier Tactics

Being stealthy in this game comes with its own challenges, but luckily, people don’t pay that much attention to what is going on above them. And while air assassinations are fun, they’ll change your positioning by putting you on the ground, which may not be the best idea at the moment.

All that said, you can upgrade this skill to use your grappling hook and pull a target from the ground, getting your assassination without potentially compromising yourself from jumping off the high ground.

2Speechcraft - Many

So Things Go The Way You Want

Killing isn’t the only thing you’ll be doing around here. Sometimes, talking is just as important. For that, there are three different skills marked as Speechcraft: Persuade (Intellect), Intimidate (Strength), and Liar (Charm).

These options will appear during certain dialogue choices, but you can only select them if you have the skill on the appropriate level. They can change the outcome of certain missions, and you can avoid unnecessary fights. You can pick the one you find more interesting rather than all three, so you can save some skill points for other stuff.

1Bond Acquisition And Reward Acquisition - Charm

For Better Spoils

These two skills are passive, and they simply increase the rewards you’ll get in certain situations. you’re able to get better compensation from missions using Reward Acquisition, making it easier to get gear, weapon upgrades, and just buy anything in general.

Bond Acquisition will help you with your allies, as the game hasthe bond mechanicwith them, and your friends are much more useful when they actually like you.
