Summary
On top of over 100 species of fantastic creatures,Palworldalso has dozens of subspecies that reimagine how the Pals would look and fight if they had a different element. Each of these subspecies, also called variations, also comes with its own Partner Skill, adding more variety to the teams you’re able to use for fighting and base management.
With so many tasks to complete on your camp and so many challenges to overcome in Palworld’s extensive archipelago, finding the right tool for every job can be hard. That’s why we’ve prepared a handy list of the ten best subspecies of Pals in Palworld. As support Pals or combat behemoths, these variations are well worth adding to your team, as they will certainly help with exploration, resource gathering, and tough battles.

10Mau Cryst
The regular Mau is a Dark Pal with the wonderful Gold Digger Partner Skill, which can occasionally dig up Gold Coins when assigned to a farm, speeding up the process of collecting Palworld’s base currency. Mau’s subspecies, Mau Cryst, possesses the same Partner Skill, making it equally useful to get some extra money.
Where Mau Cryst stands out from its regular version is its impressive collection of powerful Ice Active Skills. The Cooling Trait is also a nice bonus, allowing this cute cat Pal to tend to special base equipment that can only be operated by Ice Pals.

9Vanwyrm Cryst
Vanwyrm Cryst is another Ice variation showcasing the power of frosty Pals. The regular Vanwyrm is a mighty aerial mount combining Fire and Dark attacks to remove enemies from above, and this version keeps the mobility of its regular counterpart while exchanging Fire for Ice, a spine-chilling variation that proves quite helpful in combat.
Vanwyrm Cryst also has the Aerial Marauder Partner Skill, which increases the damage done to enemies’ weak spots while you are mounting it. This Partner Skill improves Vanwyrm Cryst’s viability in the long term, making it worth pursuing this subspecies as soon as possible.

8Robinquill Terra
Robinquill is an exquisite Grass fighter that can easily overcome Ground enemies, and its subspecies Robinquill Terra mixes things up by adding Ground attacks to its arsenal. That makes the variation highly effective against Electric Pals, too, channeling the combat expertise of Robinquill against two elements instead of one.
Robinquill Terra also keeps the regular creature’s Partner Skill, Hawkeye, which allows you to deal more damage to weak points. So, if Robinquill is one of the best Grass Pals in Palworld, Robinquill Terra only makes the deal sweater.

7Dinossom Lux
Dinossom combines the mighty Dragon and Grass attacks to stand its ground against its enemies. Dinossom Lux changes the Grass for Electric to create a new combination of powerful attacks; the twist is that Dinossom Lux still learns a Grass Active Skill at Level 15, meaning this Pal can master three elements at the same time.
Dinossom Lux’s versatility is also proved in your base, where its Level 2 Generating Electricity Trait can make it quite useful. To make things better, it’s possible to breed a Dinossom Lux quite early in the game by matching a regular Dinossom with any Electric Pal.

6Incineram Noct
The regular Incineram is a double-element Pal that channels the power of Dark and Fire to become an outstanding combatant. Incineram Noct, however, drops the Fire to focus entirely on the Dark, and while this might seem like a minor change, keeping a single Element, Inceneram Noct no longer cumulates the weakness of two elements.
Furthermore, since Incenram Noct’s Active Skills remain mostly Fire-based, this variation is extremely flexible in combat, and it also has the Darkclaw Hunter Partner Skill, which unleashes a powerful attack on a targeted enemy. Plus, its Level 2 Handiwork and Transporting Traits make it quite useful for base management.

5Leezpunk Ignis
Don’t let Leezpunk Ignis’ appearance fool you, as its Partner Skill, Sixth Sense, turns it into the best adventure companion you could ask for. That’s because when activated, Sixth Sense reveals nearby dungeons, helping you uncover all the secrets of Palworld.
Dungeons are extremely important for catching high-level Pals and finding rare resources, so Leezpunk Ignis’ ability is extremely important for exploration. Keep in mind that it can also be pretty handy in your base in the early game due to its wide variety of Traits, including Kindling, Handiwork, Transporting, and Gathering.

4Pyrin Noct
Pyrin Noct adds the powerful Dark element to the regular Pyrin’s Fire, and this mix results in powerful attacks that are great against Ice, Grass, and Neutral enemies. Pyrin Noct also has the Black Hare Partner Skill, which infuses your attacks with the Dark element while the subspecies is being mounted.
Regarding your camp, Pyrin Noct can be used for Kindling and Lumbering, a nice combination for gathering resources and keeping fires burning. However, to be fair, Pyrin Noct is so useful in the field that there’s little motivation to leave it in your base.

3Mossanda Lux
The Green Pal Mossanda has so many high-level Traits that adding a few to your base makes managing things much easier. The same can be said of its variation, Mossanda Lux. Mossanda Lux keeps the Level 2 Handiwork, Level 2 Lumbering, and Level 3 Transporting Traits of the regular Pal while adding a Level 2 Generating Electricity that will help you keep the lights on.
Mossanda Lux also keeps the Grenadier Panda Partner Skill, which allows you to fire a grenade launcher while riding it. This skill is one of the reasons Mossanda is one of thebest Grass Pals you can tame, making Mossanda Lux one of the best Electric Pals available in the game.

2Frostallion Noct
Frostallion is a Legendary Ice Pal that you’ll find in the late game, and like all the Legendary Pals, Frostallian has high stats, powerful attacks, and unique Partner Skills that can help you quickly destroy mighty threats. On top of that, this steed is also capable of birthing a unique Dark variation.
With a Frostallion on your team, you’ll be able to acquire the Forstallion Noct, a Dark subspecies of the Legendary Pal that keeps the mighty of the regular species while giving you one of the best Dark boosts. Frostallion Noct’s Partner Skill, Dark Steed, changes your attacks to the Dark element while also increasing the power of Dark attacks, a double reward that ensures this variation is one of thebest Dark Pals available in the game.

The only way to get a Frostallion Noct is by breeding a regular Frostallion with a Helzephyr, a Dark-type Pal that only shows up at night.
1Jormuntide Ignis
Jormuntide is a powerhouse when it comes to combat, easily ranking at the top of theranking of best Water Pals. Jormuntide’s variation, though, is even better than the regular one, as it’s one of the rare Fire Pals with a Level 4 Kindling Trait, which can highly increase your base efficiency in tasks that demand this Trait.
Jourmuntide Ignis' usefulness goes beyond its main Trait, though, and as an endgame Pal, this draconic behemoth is capable of taking down powerful enemies on its own without flinching. Plus, its Stormbringer Lava Dragon Partner Skill increases the damage of Fire attacks while Jormuntide Ignis is being mounted.
Jormuntide Ignis can only be found in No. 2 Wildlife Sanctuary.
