Quick Links
Dragon’s Dogma 2has ten Vocations to choose from, each with a unique set of skills to choose from. The Mystic Spearhand is a Vocation exclusive to the Arisen and shares much of its DNA with the Thief and Mage.
While the class icon implies that this is a Fighter/Mage hybrid, the Mystic Spearhand is much closer to an agile spellblade, one that uses their magic to empower themselves or manipulate the battlefield. Getting the most out of this class can be a challenge in of itself, but with the right build and tactics, you can turn the Mystic Spearhand into one of the strongest Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

This build is intended for players who are currently in Bakbattahl and have access to their Maister skill. If you aren’t that far into the game, some alternate skills are recommended.
No endgame items are used in this guide to avoid spoilers.

Build Overview
The Mystic Spearhand takes theaggressive playstyle of the Thiefand merges it with the Mage’s utility spells, creating a spellblade Vocation of untold power. Rapid attacks and excellent mobility are the cornerstones of any Mystic Spearhand build, and this one is no different. Wefocus on stamina management to maximize the uptime on Wild Furie, the Mystic Spearhand’s Maister skill.
Through careful stamina management and the right gear, the Mystic Spearhand turns into a whirlwind of destruction that can attack its foes with reckless abandon. But this does come at the cost ofrequiring a Maister skill and the right items. There’s a notable gear check for this build, and it relies heavily on proper stamina management. If you spend all of your stamina, you’re as good as dead.

Skill Alternatives
If you don’t have Wild Furie unlocked, replace it with Skiedragoun’s Feste to give yourself a powerful plunging attack. you’re able to also drop Ravinour’s Hond for Magike Speregonne, as stamina management won’t be nearly as important.
The Mystic Spearhand is a highly aggressive Vocation that is constantly attacking its foes. When you aren’t using your Twein Cut spammable, you’ll be usingWild Furieto unleash a flurry of attacks. You summon a clone of yourself and automatically lunge towards nearby targets, making this fantastic for killing clusters of trash mobs or damaging a stunned boss.

This will absolutely destroy your stamina bar, however, so you’ll want to follow up every Wild Furie attack withRavinour’s Hond. You’ll siphon the life essence out of a nearby foe to recover most of your stamina, but beware that you’re completely vulnerable while in this state. If you have enough stamina, castMirour Sheldeto give yourself a brief invulnerability window. It’s also incredibly useful for tanking boss attackslike the drake’s meteor storm.
While your stamina is low, you can spam Twein Cut without pausing your stamina regeneration.

Finally, we can’t recommend a Mystic Spearhand build withoutDragoun’s Foin. This attack thrusts your weapon with such force that you launch yourself over a dozen meters forward. It can cross major gaps in the environment, acts as a great movement skill while out exploring, and can even hit flying enemies. Hold the grab input during the animation, and you’re able to easily grab onto a flying griffin or drake.
Augments
Our selection of Augments focus on buffing the Mystic Spearhand’s stamina and overall survivability.Endurancefrom the Archer Vocation is fantastic for this build, giving you a whopping 150 stamina. That’s the same as the Ring of Momentum.Athleticismreduces how much stamina you’ll drain while sprinting, further improving the stamina economy of this build. Throw on a stamina ring, and you’ll have no issues spamming your skills.
For survivability, we takeMettlefrom the Fighter Vocation. This gives you a massive +120 physical defense, roughly half as much as a cloak.Subtletyfrom the Thief is also worth grabbing if you have a second melee character in your party, as this will force your Pawn to draw enemy aggro. We then takePolarityfor some bonus damage andThewto increase our carry capacity.

Item Upgrades
For your weapons and armor, you’ll want to useVermundian upgradesto increase all of your stats equally. Duospears deal both physical and magick damage, so you want to scale both damage types when upgrading your weapon.
When you reach the endgame, consider Dwarven upgrades for your armor to increase your knockdown resistance.

As for armor, fashion overrules function. You’ll want to swap off your starting armor at some point, but don’t worry about min-maxing your stats. Most of your defensive stats come from leveling up, equipment upgrades, and certain Augments. For our character, we use theMask of Concealment,Bladewielder’s Coat,Over-Knee Boots, and theAzure Shawl.
Mystic Spearhand relies heavily on stamina, so we recommend theRing of Tenacityto increase your max stamina. It can be purchased from Celeste’s Smithy in Checkpoint Rest Town. Later in your playthrough, you can replace it with theRing of Momentumfor even more stamina.
