Summary
There’s a reason why delving into End Cities is such a common pursuit inMinecraft. These mysterious places (rather like Ancient Cities) are well worth venturing into, as they boast some very nice loot. With minimal filler items like coal or potatoes, there’s a lot of room here for the likes of Diamonds and Diamond gear that holds powerful enchantments.
After you’ve battled and taken down the infamous and formidable Ender Dragon, finding an End City with an End Ship is incredibly rewarding. It may be difficult to travel through the End, but so long as you have some extra blocks and you’re wearing a Pumpkin Head (thereby averting the wrath of Endermen), you’ll hopefully be able to head back to the Overworld rich in loot. Here are some of the goodies that await in there.

9Dragon Head
Found On An End Ship
While mob heads have no purpose other than their cosmetic or decorative uses, taking the Dragon Head found at the bow of the ship is proof of successful looting. With it acquired, players will be able to brag that they not only traversed across the End islands and made it through Endermen and Shulkers, but they also found and looted a rare End Ship and survived.
The only way to get a Dragon Head in standard survival Minecraft is within an End City. After you’ve excitedly run to get your first Elytra, then, don’t forget to grab this big and rather grisly prize on the way out. In addition to this, there’s another good reason to pick it up if you’re playing in multiplayer: removing the head and claiming it as your own is a way to let others know the ship has already been looted.

8End Rod
A Versatile And Unique Block
If you’re looking for a decorative block that’s different from other light sources, End Cities can provide just that. End Rods can be collected by any tool or block, like just torches, and can be placed upright and sideways. This is their only direct utility, but as always, Minecraft players can find creative applications for them.
As unique as they are, they share a lot of the same traits of other blocks that provide light, such as torches and candles. Water breaks them, and they interact differently with some other blocks depending on whether they’ve been positioned upright or not. Feel free to experiment with this unusual and slightly macabre addition to your buildings' decor.

If you don’t like or are tired of mining in the Overworld, there are plenty of ores to loot in End City. Aside from chests found in shipwrecks, most loot chests have a lower chance of Diamonds spawning.

Emerald ore has just a 0.1% chance of spawning in an Overworld chunk.
If you do the math, you could have a stack of Diamonds in as little as ten chests, all from repeatedly raiding End Cities. Compare that to needing 32 chests to have Diamonds in an Abandoned Mineshaft, and there’s only one winner in terms of the time spent. It’s also important to remember that there’s only an 8.9% chance a chest will spawn with 1-2 Diamonds anyway.

6Enchanted Iron Armor And Tools
Some Very Nice Enchantments Are Available For These Standard-Issue Items
Presumably, you’ve entered the End with Diamond weapons and armor, but Enchanted Iron Armor can’t be left behind. Unless you’re playing in a Hardcore world, having back-up supplies in case of death can really pay dividends. Disaster can strike out of nowhere in Minecraft, and you don’t want to respawn back in your bed and have to travel far without any armor or weapons to get your items back (perhapscomplete with a great death message).
Iron Armor and tools found in an End City will have level 20-39 enchantments, except for Soul Speed and Swift Sneak, with chances of multiple enchantments. Common enchantments are Feather Falling, Mending, and Efficiency.

5Ender Chest
Found In End City Treasure Rooms
Ender Chests might not be the first things to come to mind when you think of End City looting, but it’s definitely worth keeping your eyes peeled for them as you explore. Whether you have multiple bases or just want to protect important items forever, having a few Ender Chests around is very helpful.
Here’s an important tip to keep in mind when you’re looting any generated structure: Use Ender Chests to store items and clear up inventory space. After all, once you’ve got your first Elytra, exploring the End islands is easier, and you’ll find plenty more treasure and loot you’ll want to bring home.

4Enchanted Diamond Armor And Tools
High-Grade Equipment With The Potential For Valuable Bonuses
You might already have Diamond Armor at the time you enter the End, but who doesn’t want more (and possibly even better) armor? Rather than have to worry about villager trading or strip mining, you can again take advantage of the high-tier enchantments potentially available on equipment in End City chests. It also can’t hurt to have a backup set of armor stored in an Ender Chest in case something goes horribly wrong.
Diamond Armor found in an End City, as with other Diamond equipment collected there, will boast enchantments ranging up to level 39 (Swift Sneak and Soul Speed again being absent), with chances of multiple enchantments. There’s a high chance of Mending, Protection, Unbreaking, and Feather Falling being among them.

Before getting your eternal Netherite tools, you need Diamond ones. To acquire them, you could use methods like villager trading or letting luck decide, then following up by using an Enchantment Table to enchant them. However, most Diamond Pickaxes, Shovels, and Swords found in End Cities boast some valuable enchantments of their own. Diamond tools found in an End City will have level 20-39 enchantments, except for Soul Speed and Swift Sneak. They even have chances of being equipped with multiple enchantments. Common ones included on these pieces of equipment are Mending, Efficiency, Silk Touch, and Fortune.
3Spire Armor Trim
Complete Your Trim Collection With This End City Exclusive
While armor trims don’t have any impact on gameplay or player stats, they can greatly enhance the visual appeal of your armor. There are a total of 16 armor trim smithing templates found throughout Minecraft’s generated structures, each of which can be customized with certain materials for different coloring.
If you’re looking to complete your armor trim collection, an End City is the only location you’ll be able to find the Spire Armor trim smithing template. Thankfully, you can duplicate this template with seven Diamonds and a Purpur block, so you won’t have to repeat the process if you need another.

The only mobs that spawn within End Cities areShulkers. Much like the sounds they make, their drops are unique. As you enter the end-game of Minecraft (pun intended), you’ll gather more and more resources that take up a lot of storage space, and you’ll definitely need Shulker Boxes to manage it all.
As shown above, their drop rates vary depending on the game edition you’re playing. While Shulker Bullets can be helpful to quickly reach higher points of an End City, Shulkers can be a nuisance. Be sure to be prepared before tangling with them, even if the rewards are certainly worth it.
1Elytra
In survival Minecraft, the main reason to go through the Ender Dragon battle and risk falling into the void of the End is to get an Elytra. This rare and valuable item is important because Minecraft worlds are infinite and not all biomes or structures are close together, making traveling difficult.
Before going into the End, make sure to bring a stack of rockets for when you get your Elytra.
Elytra enables you to not only explore the End islands easily, but also to go anywhere you’re able to dream up in the game. While you won’t find any enchanted books in the End, you’ll find multiple Elytra, enabling you to stay in this realm as long as you want. Make sure you’re satisfied with everything you’ve looted before leaving, then.
