WhileThe Sims 4has been around for a while now, its setting is still decidedly modern. Sims sit down to watch TV, order food on their smartphones, and enjoy the marvels of indoor plumbing. But some Simmers want a more vintage experience from their games, and that’s cool too.
Historical custom content is great if you want to recreate a period drama, or if you’re playing through certain themed challenges likethe decades challenge. So, we’ve made a list of our favorite content from other eras of history. Time to dive in for a blast from the past.

81900s Lookbook
The Edwardian era doesn’t get much love unless you’re doing a Titanic-themed storyline, and that’s a shame. It has a somewhat lighter, livelier feel to it than Victorian aesthetics, but still gives us the drama and frills we crave. This lovely collection from emmastillsims will have all your Edwardian Sims looking sharp.
There are around a dozen outfits for your perusal, all available in a variety of different colorways. The best part: while larger skirts always cause clipping issues in Sims' clothing, they’re not much of a problem here. you may mix and match clothing and accessories for more variety, so try experimenting a little to get the right look for your Sims.

7Functional Outdoor Well
The wonders of indoor plumbing don’t exactly fit well with most historical settings, but your Sims still need to get water somehow. Enter the functional well from my-historical-sims, which is suitable for a wide variety of timelines. Pretty much every lot needs one if you’re going for a historical save file.
If you’re wondering how the well works, it’s simply a reskinned sink. As such, it has all the same functions you’d expect from sinks in The Sims 4, including brushing your teeth. Sure, that’s a little weird when you think about it, but at least your game’s aesthetic is undisturbed.

6Le Pouf Rococo Hair
The 18th century is an interesting time from a historical standpoint. Whether your setting is colonial America or revolutionary France, one type of hairstyle defines this era: ridiculous powdered wigs. Because absolutely no one wears their hair like this in the 21st century, you’ll have to download custom hair like this one if you want the vibe in your game.
Keep in mind that this hairstyle may cause some clipping issues in your game. There’s not really anything you can do about this, since any oversized hairstyle and clothing will do this, whether it’s official content or custom. Otherwise, this is a fantastic Maxis-match hairstyle for your rococo games.

5Well And Water Pump Sprinkler Systems
We’ve covered another well earlier in this list, but you can never have too many wells in your game. While the earlier well functioned as a sink, this one functions as a fire alarm. If wells aren’t your thing, Teknikah also has a water pump that functions as a fire alarm. The water pump is perfect for early 20th-century games.
These items are indispensible for any Simmer who wants to keep their Sims safe while also committing to the historical bit. A working fire alarm is something that even most modern Simmers neglect to build into their homes. If you’re not fond of your Simsburning to a crisp, you should definitely check this content out.

41920s Lookbook
The 1920s were given some love in The Sims 3 with the optional Roaring Heights DLC, but The Sims 4 hasn’t followed suit with regards to its official content. You can correct this grievous error by downloading this darling 1920s lookbook, created by emmastillsims.
Sure, there are the flapper dresses and dapper suits that you’d expect from a collection like this. But we were also pleasantly surprised by how much everyday clothing was also included. Other than the cloche hats, our favorite pieces have got to be the oversized sweaters for feminine-presenting Sims, which can also be used for modern games.

3Functional Typewriter
While there are other typewriters out there on the internet, most of them are abandonware and thus not up-to-date with the latest patches. Despite this deficiency, your historical Sims are still in need of typewriters. Say hello to one of the only high-quality typewriters we’ve been able to find for The Sims 4.
There are both Maxis-match and alpha versions of this typewriter, so you can place it into your game no matter what your personal aesthetics are. This typewriter isn’t merely a reskinned computer; it isn’t able to perform any functions that a typewriter logically wouldn’t be able to do. But hey, at least you’ll definitely be able to write that novel now.

21940s Hair
While short hair was all the rage in the 1920s and 1930s, long hair started to creep back into fashion during the 1940s. This set gives you over a dozen vintage hairstyles, full of gorgeous curls and slick pompadours. They’re available in all the standard EA hair colors, for teen through adult Sims.
Most of these hairstylescan also be repurposed to also be used for a 1950s game, which is useful if you’re playing a decades challenge. They’re also mostly compatible with hats, and have minimal clipping issues. We can’t recommend this set enough if you want a vintage look for your Sims.
1Antiquity CC Set
Ancient Greece and Rome are tragically underrepresented when it comes to custom content, but this set from Martine has everything you need to make a properly ancient home. From lavish cushions to elaborate amphoras, your Sim’s abode can aspire to a truly mythical atmosphere.
There are a few ways you can use the items from this collection. Your first instinct might be to put them in an ancient Roman or Greek-themed world as intended, which is perfect for a legacy challenge that spans millennia. However, neoclassical aesthetics were popular throughout much of history. You could even build a museum to house some of these artifacts.
