It shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone that Dominion is one of the most well-known and populardeck-building games, even 15 years after its original release. Even though the theme is pretty basic, the game is straightforward, and allows you to create combo-tastic turns that keep you coming back for more.
But after several plays and once you figure out the best combos, the game can feel a little mechanical. Thankfully, Dominion has released 15 expansions since 2008. Here are some of the best Dominion expansions on the market.

Updated on Jul 09, 2025, by Sai Vsr:In this update, we bring you the Empire expansion, which is great if you’re looking for landmark cards. Check it out below!
Dominion: Empire
Build and rule yours.
If you’re looking take your game to the landmark side of things, check out the Empires expansion, which introduces new mechanics like debt tokens, split piles and more!

As the tenth expansion in the series, Empires introduces game-changing elements like the Debt mechanic, Split piles, and Landmark cards. These new features significantly alter gameplay and provide fresh challenges that are going to be an absolute blast for Dominion veterans. The expansion includes 24 new Kingdom card sets, as well as Events and Landmarks, that inject tremendous variety into each game.
The Debt mechanic allows players to acquire powerful cards earlier at the cost of future turns, adding an engaging new layer of risk and reward. Landmark cards change victory conditions, opening new and strategic paths to success.

Dominion: Prosperity
All that glitters is platinum
Prosperity comes with new Kingdom cards along with physical coin tokens, victory point tokens, and new treasure cards.

Money, money, money! This expansion is all about wealth, baby! With a bunch of new treasure cards, including platinum, this Dominion set lets you rake in the money. Grab some Grand Market cards in the first few turns and then stock up on the Hoard cards.
Dominion: Intrigue
Level Up With This Expansion
Dominion: Intrigue introduces some cards that work as both action cards and victory points, along with new Kingdom cards.
If you’re still fairly new to Dominion, but still want to add different cards to the mix, this is the expansion to purchase. There are no added extra complications or fiddly items, just cards with different actions. Wishing Well is a particularly fun card that allows players to attempt to predict what is on the top of your deck. If you guess correctly, the card goes into your hand.

Dominion: Dark Ages
So Many Attacks, So Little Time!
Dominion: Dark Ages adds Knight cards that increase player interaction and attacks. New types of victory treasure cards are included as well.
If your favorite part of base Dominion is the attack cards, get this expansion. This expansion has a ton of player interaction because of the many attack cards in it. Be prepared to have a huge “trash” pile. So many cards in this game force players to trash cards, and, while it can seem frustrating, it ends up being a whole lot of fun.

Dominion: Seaside
Extra Satisfying Turns
Dominion: Seaside has a nautical theme and introduces cards that stay in play until a player’s next turn. Embargo tokens and coins are also included.
There are so many great aspects of Dominion: Seaside that it is hard to just point out a few. The “duration” cards are a huge game changer. When a player plays a “duration” card, the card is left out until the end of their next turn, and gives them extra boons. Embargo tokens can be played on a pile of cards, and when a player buys from that pile, they must take a curse. The turns are ultra satisfying when playing with this expansion.

Dominion: Hinterlands
More Paths To Victory
Dominion: Hinterlands provides players with more card choices and introduces cards that are victory points and “reaction” cards.
One of the new victory cards included in Dominion Hinterlands doubles as “reaction” cards to offset the attack cards, which is interesting. Two other victory cards allow players other ways to buy victory cards besides the Estate, Duchy, and Province. This expansion provides more of what makes Dominion great: card variety.
Dominion: Guilds & Cornucopia
One Box, Twice The Fun
Guilds and Cornucopia are two smaller expansions that were combined into one box. Cornucopia adds a variety of cards and “prizes.”
This two-pack expansion has two sets of cards in one box. In the Cornucopia expansion, several cards, like Menagerie and Harvest, benefit players who have a variety of different cards in their deck. The Guilds expansion features cards that instruct players to take coin tokens as they are played. These coins can be used during a turn or saved for a later turn. This is a good way to save up for the more expensive victory cards.
