First available after the main events in Chapter 9, ‘Teach Me, O Great Warrior’ is a side quest starring our resident plucky ninja, Yuffie Kisaragi.Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthgives Yuffie heaps more material than she had in the original game, and in this instance, she gets to show off all those nifty Wutaian skills of hers.

Completing the mission objectives to the game’s satisfaction can be a bit tough if you’re not prepared, and the last skirmish before the quest’s completion can be challenging, no matter how you slice it. Let’s teach Sotetsu what it takes to honor his idol!

We had a bit of a weirdly difficult time figuring out how to get to the guy at first, which might well have just been us being tired at the time. Butif you do get turned around, the ‘trick’ is tohike up the ledgearound the center portion of the area.

Sotetsu imploresYuffieto help him train. She’s all too giddy to do so, of course.Sotetsu will then run off to the first training spot, so follow suit when you’re ready.

The First Three Lessons

Each of thefirst three out of four lessonsis relatively easy, though we got a bit stuck with the second one. Let’s knock them out one by one here.

The Fourth And Final Lesson

The last lesson pits you againsta pair of Mastodons, rarer and more powerful variantsof the Gongaga region’s spin on those Elphadunks you saw in the Grasslands.

Keeping Sotetsu from falling unconsciousis theonly requirementhere, but staying alive yourself (while healing Sotetsu as needed) can be a challenge if you don’t come inwith full HP and a party that can dole out Fire-elemental damage.

Cissnei offers to teach Sotetsu in FF7 Rebirth

That’s the trick to it, really;Fira (or Firaga if you have it)will stifle the Mastodons over time, pressuring and eventually staggering them. But they willtrample across the battlefield with alarming ferocity, so keep careful tabs on your party’s vigor.

Mist Mega-PotionsandCura/Curaga with Magnifyare a godsend here, as isPrayif you have a character who can commit two ATB charges to a heal-all.

‘Teach Me, Great Warrior’ Side Quest Rewards

When the dust settles, we’ll learn more about why Sotetsu’s been so tough on himself. We’ll also get afunny scene with a nice Cissnei moment, which we’re listing like it’s a serious reward here, just in case you like her as much as we do.
