Starfield’s recentSteamreviews have once again fallen into the Mostly Negative category, having previously recovered and risen to Mixed. Most of the recent reviewers say that they find the game dull, with some also complaining about bugs that get in the way of progressing through the story.

This isn’t the first time thatBethesda’s latest game has dipped into Mostly Negative. Reviews alsofell into this category towards the end of last year, before once again rising to Mixed. It seemed like the reception would stay this way too, after ahuge patch made sweeping changes to the visuals, as well as fixing dozens of bugs. However, it seems that wasn’t enough for some players, who describe Starfield as “dull”, “bare bones”, and “stale”.

Starfield’s overall reviews are still Mixed, but it’s likely far from what Bethesda would have expected. The studio is regarded as one of the best in the RPG genre, but for some, Starfield just didn’t meet expectations. Many players complained about the space travel, disappointed that much of it takes place in loading screens. Others say there isn’t enough to do when you’re exploring the galaxy, making exploration useless.

Bethesda infamouslystarted replying to negative reviews on Steam, disagreeing with their assessments. In one case, a Bethesda worker replied, “Some of Starfield’s planets are meant to be empty by design - but that’s not boring. When astronauts went to the moon, there was nothing there. They certainly weren’t bored.”

It seems that this approach has largely been abandoned, as we can’t see any developer responses to the recent wave of negative reviews. This wouldn’t be too surprising, as this wasn’t a popular move once fans took notice.

In better news, a recent update to Starfield’s Steam page suggests thatits DLC, Shattered Space, could launch soon. An untitled DLC package was uploaded to the store page, and while this isn’t confined, it’s likely that this is Shattered Space. That said, no release date has been revealed, as we’re still waiting for an announcement from Bethesda.

One announcement we shouldn’t expect any time soon though is news that Starfield is being ported to PlayStation. This was rumoured earlier in the year beforeone of the leakers walked back on these claims. Now, Xbox has revealed that some of its games will appear on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, but Starfield was not included in the lineup.
