Marvel’s Spider-Man 2has been out for a little while now, with most people having played through Miles and Peter’s latest escapades, but Insomniac is finally ready to start pushing people into another playthrough.
Announced via the official Insomniac Games Twitter account, Spider-Man 2’s highly requested New Game Plus mode will be added to the title on March 7 next month in a free update for all players. On top of that, Insomniac has also announced that the update will also bring with it several more “highly requested features”, including new suits to try out, with a full list of additions coming closer to the update’s release.
While we didn’t get any in-depth information about this New Game Plus mode, we can assume it will be implemented just like it was with its predecessor as well as other PlayStation titles. In the first Marvel’s Spider-Man, Insomniac launched a super hard difficulty mode alongside it to give players another reason to jump into the game, and there’s no reason why it won’t be the same case here. Just the thought of that Kraven boss fight on Ultimate difficulty makes me want to shudder.
As for what Insomniac is working on next, the massive leaks that took place in December last yearclaim that Insomniac is now working on a Venom spinoff title that will release in 2025. After that, Insomniac is then expected to release Marvel’s Wolverine in 2026, which was originally announced with a teaser trailer back in 2021. Spider-Man 3, a new Ratchet & Clank, an X-Men game, and a new IP were all also listed as planned projects, though we’ll be waiting several years before we have them officially announced.
For now, we have Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to swing back into, and if you haven’t played it yet, you can actually try it out free of charge if you’re a PlayStation Plus member, asa free game trial was made available earlier this week. Your progress made in the trial, as well as the trophies you earn, will all carry over if you decide to pull the trigger on the full game too, so there’s no reason not to give it a go if you’ve been on the fence.
