Sonic X Shadow Generationswasannounced during PlayStation’s latest State of Play showcase, a complete remaster of Sonic Generations with an additional campaign featuring Shadow the Hedgehog. It was a very popular announcement among Sonic fans, and has brought the Sonadow shippers out in full force, mostly down to the game’s very questionable title that will undoubtedly go on to scar curious children and parents in the near future.
The volume in which Sonic x Shadow shippers are rallying around the game is made even more apparent when youtake a look at the game’s Steam page. Everything appears pretty normal at first glance, but take a look at the user-defined tags, and you’ll notice that Sonic X Shadow Generations has somehow been tagged as an LGBTQ+ game.
In fact, it’s currently the game’s most popular user-defined tag, somehow making its way above the “Action” and “Platformer” tags. With this tag, Sonic X Shadow Generations is now featured alongside the likes of titles such as Queer Quest, Touchstarved, and a whole host of other dating sims and visual novels in the LGBTQ page’s “Coming Soon” section.
Obviously, Steam users messing around with the user-defined tags as a joke is nothing new, as you’ll also find games such as Disney Pixar Cars: Radiator Springs Adventure and Lords Mobile in the LGBTQ section as well. Still, it’s extremely impressive that Sonadow fans have managed to make LGBTQ the most popular tag on Sonic X Shadow Generations, even ahead of its own genre. That’s some true dedication right there.
It’s also safe to say that Sonic fans are very much enjoying this Shadow resurgence we seem to be getting this year,having already dubbed 2024 the “Year of Shadow”. Not only do we have a new story to look forward to in Sonic X Generation,which fans are desperate to see a little kid get shot in, but we also have the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to look forward to, which fans are also hoping features a child getting shot.
We know thatthe movie will likely feature Maria, the girl that gets shot by a GUN soldier while trying to save Shadow’s life, thanks to the recent news that actor Alyla Brown is playing a role in the movie. We’ll have to wait and see whether Shadow’s depressing backstory will be properly told in either Sonic the Hedgehog 3 or Sonic X Shadow Generations.
