Skull And Bonesdoesn’t appear to have been the hitUbisofthoped it might be. Lost in an early 2024 shuffle that includes surefire hits likeFinal Fantasy 7 RebirthandLike A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and a game that has tried to replicate the best parts of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag but hasn’t pulled it off despite a decade-long development. The $70 price tag was likely the tipping point for many who were on the fence anyway, so maybe now you may get it for less, more people will take to Ubisoft’s high seas.
Skull And Bones has had its price cut for a limited time in the past, but this reduction has already stuck around longer than any of the sales on the game to have come before. Down to $44.99 right now atAmazonwhether you plan on playing the pirate game onPS5orXbox Series X|S. There’s no knowing for sure when the game will return to full price, but at the time of typing this, the deal has already been live for a full day.

Even though this is the longest Skull And Bones has been available for less, it’s not the first time Ubisoft has tried to tempt people into playing its newest game. Prior to launch, there was a Skull And Bones beta anyone with a platform on which to play the game could be a part of. Post-launch, anyone who hadn’t already paid $70 for the game was invited to play it for free for the first eight hours. I’m seven hours into that free trial, and I may now use up the final 60 minutes while the game is on sale.
Skull and Bones
WHERE TO PLAY
Skull and Bones is a pirate-based action game from Ubisoft, with persistent open-world multiplayer. Set in the Indian Ocean, you must raise your reputation as a pirate, build and command ships, and loot to your heart’s content.
Even when accounting for those who cashed in their eight-hour trials, Ubisoft has been struggling to get people interested in Skull And Bones. The only figure we have for now is one that revealedSkull and Bones failed to break a million playersduring its first week. Not necessarily the end of the world on the surface, but only if Ubisoft can break the barrier and some more impressive ones after it as we move deeper into 2024.
A lot of people weredriven back into the arms of Black Flagshortly after Skull And Bones was released. Sort of good news for Ubisoft since it owns that game too, but it would have preferred those people play Skull And Bones, especially since most of them likely already owned copies of Black Flag. With rivallive service pirate game Sea of Thieves coming to PS5next month, even with a price cut, it’s going to be hard for Ubisoft to get more people to play Skull And Bones.
