Garden Life: A Cozy Simulatorlays it on pretty thick in the name. It is undoubtedly cozy, and it’s all about your garden. While a lot of the game mechanics are really straightforward and happily explained by the couple of NPCs helping you to settle around town, there are still a few things you must learn to balance if you want to become the ideal community garden caretaker.

A game where you plant and grow things is not complete without weeds. In Garden Life, however, they are more than just a nuisance, which is a really fun detail that adds to the overall environment of the simulation.

What Are Weeds?

Weeds aresmall plant clusters of a bone-ish beige colorthat grow sporadically around your garden. There isno formula to know when or where a weed will pop up, so it’s your duty as the caretaker to just keep an eye out andinspect the garden often.

You aremore likely to find a weed in a new place as you begin a new daythan you are to see one pop out in the middle of an ongoing one.

Rainy daysmay also cause weeds togrow more abundantly the following day, but only sometimes.

Should You Pull Weeds Out?

Weeds can be a little unsightly, especially if they’re growing all over the place. However, they doserve a purpose in the game, so pulling them out is not really a no-brainer.

When you letweeds grow around your plants, they will enjoy some degree ofprotection from becoming infested with bugs. This is great if youdon’t want to spray your poor flowers with chemicals,or if you just don’t want to have to check for bugs every day.

Spraying the plants with the pest killer willnot harm them in any way.

However, weeds alsosuck up some of the moisture from the soil, and letting too many of them grow close to your plants willsteal their water, so they will becomedry more often and droop.

In general, whether you pull weeds out or notboils down to a matter of preference.

They’re not useless andcan help benefit you if you have a lot of flowers to tend toduring the day. But, there’sa cost to their help to balance it out, and they do make your gardena little harder to decorate prettilyif you just have them lying around everywhere.
