Final Fantasy 7 Remake not only brought back many beloved characters from the original, but introduced several new characters whose personalities are just as rich. Perhaps the greatest example of this is Roche, a SOLDIER Third Class who views Cloud as a rival figure.
Roche is back inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and he is just as ridiculous as ever. This ridiculousness extends to his new boss fight, which takes place in Rebirth’s fourth chapter. This time, Roche is on his motorcycle, but with our boss guide, Roche will get exactly what he hopes for - another thrilling fight.

Roche Boss Battle Overview
We will begin by pointing outthe biggest issue that most players will face when fighting Roche: his speed.Roche is, by his own admission, a speed demon.
And now that he is on his motorcycle, and in a smallish arena with driveable walls on every side,Roche will be speeding along around the perimeter of the playable area on a regular basis.

This means that the battle against Roche is not going to be easily won if your ambition is to keep up with him in position, striking him preemptively with Cloud’s sword. Put plainly, you may emerge victorious eventually, butyou will be burning through those potions even faster than Roche will be driving.
Instead, you should stand your ground, enabling Punisher Modewhenever Roche is not preparing a special attack which will, in all likelihood, hit fairly hard and break your guard. Punisher Mode, when active, breaks the enemies' attacks and can even - depending on the foe - pressure them.
In Roche’s case, you will benefit from any pressure, of course, but you will benefit even more greatly from preventing your self-proclaimed rival from knocking Cloud back on a routine basis.
As for those aforementioned special attacks,Roche can shoot electrical voltage across the battlefield, which will not only deal some serious damage to Cloud, butstun himfor several seconds, leaving him wide open to subsequent attacks.
Needless to say, Cloud cannot have his Punisher Mode activated whilst stunned, so you won’t have that going for you, either.
Roche Boss Battle Strategy
If you can, you should aim toperfect block as many of Roche’s non-electrical attacks as possible. This, more than anything else other than his fire weakness, willpressure and eventually stagger Roche.
Roche, while staggered, is a prime target for everything in Cloud’s arsenal, and you will likely cripple at leasthalf of his health in a single stagger phase. So, yes. Equip cloud with yourFire materia orb, and if you have Fira at this point, expect it to do some serious heavy lifting.
Additionally, have Cloud equipped with theItem Economizer materia orb, becausethere will be no one but Cloud himself to heal him,and every ATB charge will be vital to maintaining your edge against the SOLDIER.
Item Economizerlets the wielder use items without tapping into the ATB gauge. It has a lengthy cooldown, but that one free heal every couple of minutes can really make a difference.
Have Cloud also equipped withIfrit.Bludgeoning Roche withfire-elemental damage over timeis a great way to keep him pressured, and whenIfrit’s two-charge special attack is up,you can count on it to give Roche the reckoning he so richly craves.
There really isn’t much else to say about this boss -Roche is fairly straightforward, which doesn’t mean that he is a cakewalk, but it does mean that so long as you follow our general guidelines, you should emerge victorious in no time.
