Despite no news on whether there will ever be anotherRed Dead Redemptionand no current-gen version ofRed Dead Redemption 2,Rockstar’s well-loved Wild West game has continued to stay relevant. Often overshadowed by the behemoth that isGTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar’s second most successful game ever, selling 61 million copies and counting. If you’ve still not started your Red Dead Redemption adventure, you can now play the first of the two games for no additional charge through GTA Plus.

Rumors that Red Dead Redemption was coming to GTA Plus started to circulate on Tuesday and shortly after, Rockstar confirmed those rumors to be true. Effective immediately, if you have an active GTA Plus subscription onPS5orXbox Series X|S, you can download and play Red Dead Redemption for free right now. Still no good news forPCplayers who are still waiting for not only GTA Plus, but also a port of Red Dead Redemption of any description.

Red Dead Redemption released on Nintendo Switchlast year, the same port hitting PlayStation at the same time. However, no port for Xbox and PC means the platforms are still waiting for a version of the game capable of running at 60fps. The current forms of Red Dead Redemption across all platforms are likely the ones Rockstar will be sticking with for the foreseeable future as almost everyone at its studios will be working on trying to get GTA 6 ready for 2025.

GTA Plus is a Rockstar-run subscription service that grants GTA Online players exclusive bonuses in exchange for $5.99 per month. The service also includes a selection of Rockstar games, available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

GTA 6 still has a tentative release date of 2025, however, it seems likely its launch will be pushed back to later in the year and potentially even slip into 2026. There are clearly at least a few people not working on GTA 6, at least not yet, asan unexpected update was rolled out for Red Dead Redemption 2last week. Nice to know the game is still on Rockstar’s radar, but unlike its predecessor on select platforms, Red Dead Redemption 2 still can’t run at 60fps, regardless of where you play it.
