There’s a downside, but hopefully it’s one that won’t affect you. I have been unable to find out what exactly qualifies customers for this discount. I live in the UK and have an Extra subscription, but even when signing out, and checking the US and Canadian PS Plus websites, I’m still unable to find a storefront with the discounts applied. Good luck to you should you fancy PS Plus for less and you’re able to find it, though.
PlayStation Plus
PlayStation Plus is a subscription service from Sony. It comes in three paid tiers - Essential, Extra, and Premium, and offers free monthly games to own, a catalog of hundreds of games, cloud storage, discounts, and online multiplayer gameplay.
It’s also worth testing if you’re able to make the most of this loophole sooner rather than later. As soon as PlayStation realizes the mistake it has made, that loophole will be swiftly pulled shut. My guess is either the Extra discount will be reduced, or PlayStation will remove the ability to upgrade for less to new customers.
