Nintendois up to something, we just don’t know what that something is yet. Yes, it’s almost certainly a new console - its first since theSwitchlaunched in 2017 - but what that console will look like, what it will do, and when it will be here remains a mystery. Evidence an announcement is coming soon continues to stack up though, added to this week as physical copies of some top Switch games have been disappearing from stores.Pokemon Snapappears to be among them, and the last place with it in stock has slashed its price.
GameStopis the only major US retailer with copies of Pokemon Snap still in stock, and you may currently pick it up through the link in the box below for $30 as opposed to the usual $60. News that Pokemon Snap might now be out of print will have increased the rate at which the game is selling, and having it for half price likely means it will be sold out, and then potentially gone forever, before you know it.

Fears that Nintendo has ceased production of certain physical games began earlier this week asMetroid Dread and Pikmin 3 Deluxe disappeared from all but one storefront- Best Buy for the former and Walmart for the latter. More and more Switch games have been joining them ever since, Pokemon Snap the latest to become a member of the club. Possibly evidence that other than the biggest Switch titles that refuse to stop selling, Nintendo has shifted its production from Switch cartridges to physical copies of games for its next console.
New Pokémon Snap
WHERE TO PLAY
A sequel to the Nintendo 64 classic, New Pokemon Snap is a form of safari game in which your job is to take photos of over 200 Pokemon across six different islands and over 20 courses. You are judged on your photos, which you can edit and share online.
Paper Mario: The Origami King is also on the list of Switch games that appear to be out of print, but that may well be because a new Paper Mario game is launching in 2024. Well, a remake of an old Paper Mario game as The Thousand Year Door will be released sometime soon. Even if there hasn’t been any confirmation that a Switch game you’ve been eyeing up a physical copy of will be out of stock for good soon, you might want to buy it now anyway before it’s too late.
Switch games disappearing from stores or not, if you’re one of the 132 million people who own the console, there’s no need to panic. Yes, Nintendo will almost certainly be announcing its successor any day now. However, support for a console as popular as the Switch isn’t going to end anytime soon. There are games announced for the console throughout 2024, and I’d hazard to guess quite a few of the first arrivals on the next console will be cross-gen titles.
