You’ve seen the past, and you’ve traipsed across the Grasslands. You’ve even fought a giant snake. Now you’re inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s third chapter, and it’s the first of a few that are centered entirely within one dungeon-like area.
In Chapter 3, your team will be split into two groups, each with a boss to best. Teamwork will play a big role, as Barret and Red XIII will help Cloud, Aerith, and Tifa to reach new spots. There’s a lot to do in this-here Mythril Cave, so let’s begin our comprehensive tour of these abandoned tunnels through magical Final Fantasy ore.

Heading In
Kick things off by taking some casual steps through theentrance to the Mythril Mine. Pretty soon, you’ll finda rest bench, shop terminal, and folio terminal. There’s never a bad time to take a break on a bench, and you should alwayspurchase the discounted items.
As for the Maghnata Books kiosk, well, that one’s more situational. You don’t always want to be spending your SP here just because you have it, sincesome skill nodes will cost 10, 15, or even 20 SP. That said, you’re still early into Rebirth, so you’re probably fine to spend on those fives.

Cloud, Aerith, and Tifawill be your party for a while. In one of the earliest rooms following the party split, keep an eye out for anAP Up Materia located prior to a ladder. As for the foes,Crystalline Crabs are best handled with magic. The rest can be slain witth ease.
Don’t forget to use yourAssess Materiaon every monster!
Separated
In the next area, open the treasure chest containing Sylph Gloves, a new weapon for Tifa. Whether you enjoy the stat spread these gloves provide or prefer to keep Tifa’s Strength up as high as possible (same),remember to learn the unique ability from them!
These follow-up bits of the Mythril Mineshould be thoroughly exploredfor resources, though you won’t find much of value here other than anEther. To progress, take the path that’s marked by a giant yellow ‘Workers’ sign.

Just past the sign, you’ll meet your firstOgre, a more powerful foe who can leap toward youand deal some decent damage if the blow connects.Cast Fire from afarwith either Aerith or Cloud, andhave Tifa pummel the Ogres from the side.
Mine cartsare interactive objects in the Mythril Mine which need to bepushed or pulledat several points. The earliest example comes for Cloud’s team;when the rail track is blocked, hold L2 to pull itout of the way.

Asecond mine cartcan be found in the wider area that follows, though you might very well spotan inaccessible ladderbefore you see it.We need to bring the mine cart to the ladder, which we’ll do by holding L2, same as before. Don’t miss theHi-Potionsin a treasure chest.
From the ladder, heal up if needed, since you’ll encountertwo Ogresshortly before you gain access to another bench and shop terminals. The Ogres will occasionally both leap at the same target - expect to take a hit if that happens!

Rest at the bench. When you’re ready to proceed,a cutscene with Rude and Elena of the Turksoccurs. Follow ourin-depth guide on how to defeat Rude and Elena;after that, it’s Barret’s and Red XIII’s time to shine.
Barret And Red’s Big Adventure
This is when the Mythril Mine getsfun.Barret can blast crystals into a pulp with his gun, which is precisely what we will need to do to get out of here.
Sometimes, it can feel like the alerts for destructible crystals are going haywire on your screen. This just means there’sprobably some crystals nearby that you haven’t yet noticed, so take the time todestroy them all.

Don’t miss theRenegade’s Collarbeside the next bench. Continue deeper into this massive subterranean zone until Red draws attention to a spot far higher-up.Now, climb the rocks marked with faded yellowto denote their purpose, grabbing resources along the way.
Flans are like gelatin toRed XIII’s fast melee, and Crystal Crabs can be cracked like buffet crab legs withBarret’s ranged attacks.
This climbing portion of the dungeon can be oddly confusing at points. When you reach what appears to be something of a dead end,gun down the large rocks to secure passage.
When you have climbed out of the crystalline pool area, some more mine cart puzzleswill greet you. WIth the first mine cart, push it as far as it can go for a Bulletproof VestReturn the cart to its original position.
The Bulletproof Vest is a terrific piece for Barret, whoseexcellent Vitality stat makes him your physical tank. In our experience, it’s better to double down on your characters' strengths in FF7 Rebirth.
Locate the interactive rail switchthat’s about midway between the far sides of the cart’s track, andhold triangle to alter the track’s course.Move the cart down this new route, defeating fiends as you do. Barret and Red will soon have a chat with Cloud and the others, who need our help!
Once our little 2,000-gil plan’s in place, press onward, and shoot the ladder to bust it down. More mine cart shenanigans ensue, with the solution being toshoot track-blocking boulders and alter rail switches. When the cart reaches the edge, push it over into the abyss.
Heading Out
Cloud, Aerith, and Tifa can safely carry forward, but Barret and Red aren’t out of the woods just yet. You’ll know you’re close to theMythril Golem, the second of the Mythril Mine’s two bosses, once you’ve spotted and fetched theLightning Materia. Rest up!
Consult our guide on how to beat the Mythril Golem - though if you’re in a hurry, and would prefer a shorter version, target the Mythril Golem’s head until the creature is pressured. Next, pelt the Mythril Golem withThunder and Focused Shot. Rinse and repeat!
With the Mythril Golem done and dusted, follow the last little stretch of pathto exit the Mythril Mine and emerge in theJunon region, where Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’smuch longer fourth chapterbegins.
