Summary
Wizards of the Coasthas announced that a very special collaboration will be taking place later this year, as it has been revealed that to celebratethe recently released Outlaws of Thunder Junction set,Magic: The Gatheringwill be crossing over with the popular anime series Cowboy Bebop. There are five cards in total in this collaboration, each one an alt version of an existing card, but with new art based on theanime’s intro sequence.
Originally announced as a Japan exclusive, Wizards has explained onthe official Magic: The Gathering websiteyou’ll now be able to get these cards by attending weekly Standard Showdown events at any local Wizards Play Network (WPN) store starting on August 2. You can check for your closest local store with Wizards of the Coast’s handy store locator, which you can find here.
As for which cards are included, you’ll be able to grab Cowboy Bebop versions of Ossification (Tinybones), Disdainful Stroke (Oko), Go for the Throat (Rakdos), Lightning Strike (the Thunder Junction replacement of guns), and Snakeskin Veil (Vraska) throughout the next year, all of which are in traditional foil andcount as crimes, apart from the latter which protects against them. You can check them all out below.
When Can You Get Each Card?
It’s worth noting that not all of these cards will be dished out in one event, and you’ll need to keep your schedule open if you want all of them. Ossification is the first card being dished out at Standard Showdown events starting on August 2 and ending on September 19. You’ll then be able to get Disdainful Stroke between September 27 and November 7, which will then lead up to the release of Go for the Throat between November 15 and June 17, 2025.
Lightning Strike will then be available between February 7 and March 2, while Snakeskin Veil will be bringing up the rear after a significant gap, handed out between April 4 and May 29. You can see from the dates that there’s plenty of time in which the cards will be available, so there will be plenty of opportunities to grab one if you want them.
