Summary
Godzillais an unstoppable force that wreaks havoc on Japan. Throughout the franchise, he has played the role of devastating destroyer, protector of humanity, and even a vengeful guardian of nature. The military doesn’t stand a chance in most cases as the only thing capable of stopping Godzilla is usually another monster.
Many monsters have tried in the past to take on Godzilla only to fail. So what makes the nuclear dinosaur so powerful? Some abilities are iconic, such as his atomic breath while others fall into a more unknown category. These are Godzilla’s most powerful abilities he’s ever used.

11Atomic Breath
Atomic Destruction
Godzilla’s atomic breath is one of his most iconic abilities; in the original film, this ability almost resembled a stream of powerful smoke that burned and blasted everything in its path. As the years went by the atomic breath would gain its signature blue coloring.
In recent films, his atomic breath is shown to be powerful enough to blast a hole through the Earth’s surface and reach the hollow Earth all on its own. In Godzilla Minus One, his atomic breath can replicate a nuclear explosion with a single blast.

10Enhanced Heat Ray
Spiral Beams Of Death
Godzilla’s enhanced heat ray has been featured in both the Heisei era and as a finishing move in Godzilla Final Wars. Unlike the Atomic Ray, the enhanced form of this move glows red and is often depicted with spirals.
This ability was unlocked in Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla II after Godzilla is fatally wounded by the robotic doppelganger. Rodan gives up his energy, reviving Godzilla but also powering him up, which allows him to use the freshly enhanced finishing move.

9Flying Kick
Godzilla’s Funniest Move
One of Godzilla’s strangest abilities was displayed in Godzilla VS Megalon. After Gigan and Megalon team up to destroy all life on the surface, Godzilla must form his own alliance with Jet Jaguar, a size-changing robot, to save the day.
After getting their second wind during the fight, Godzilla asks Jet Jaguar to hold Megalon tightly while he performs a wild move. Godzilla flies through the air suspended only by his tail as he lands an aerial kick on his enemies.

8Energy Absorption
Even More Powerful Than Ever
Godzilla was created in part through nuclear weapons, and in Godzilla Minus One and other titles like Godzilla Vs King Ghidora, nuclear energy transformed a dinosaur into the King of the Monsters. However, this ability to absorb energy has been shown time and time again to make him more powerful.
In Godzilla Vs King Ghidora it makes him bigger while in Godzilla King of The Monsters, it is enough to bring him back from near death. Inthe monsterverse, Godzilla is seen hunting other monsters like the Muto to absorb their energy.

7Flight
The Silliest Godzilla Move
Many of Godzilla’s enemies have wings, giving them an advantage in some fights, but this does not stop Godzilla from pulling a few tricks out of his sleeve. In Godzilla Vs Hedora, Godzilla is in hot pursuit of the smog monster which, unfortunately, is one of his enemies that can fly.
Hedora manages to get away temporarily, but Godzilla uses his atomic breath in a creative way to close the gap. Aiming his breath backward, he uses it to propel himself through the air, allowing him to take flight and catch up.

6Magnetism
When Lightning Strikes
Godzilla has faced many deadly foes, but none was deadlier than Mechagodzilla, and even with King Caesar fighting by his side, it seemed like the bionic monster was unstoppable. It just so happens that lighting struck Godzilla during this fight.
The lightning surging through his body allowed him to unleash a new ability in the form of magnetism, giving him the chance to pull in Mechagodzilla for close combat. This allowed Godzilla to pry the bionic terror’s head off with ease, but Godzilla only used this power once in the entire franchise.

5Regeneration
Making Godzilla Invincible
There is a reason Godzilla cannot be destroyed by conventional weapons; Godzilla just has a powerful regeneration ability that heals most of his wounds in an instant. Its regenerative abilities were explored further in the film, Godzilla 2000, with the alien Orga seeking to steal it.
InGodzilla Minus One, this ability is shown to be even more powerful than imagined, as even a fragment of Godzilla can regenerate itself back to full strength if given enough time. It looks like Godzilla really is unstoppable.

4World Ending Nuclear Pulse
Apocalypse Starting Powers
Godzilla Vs Destroyah marked the first time since the original film that Godzilla would die; this time, however, he wasn’t going down without a blast. Due to the radiation within Godzilla constantly building up, it was only a matter of time before the King of the Monsters would explode.
This explosion would cause a major meltdown so hot, it could burn a hole through the planet’s core and destroy all life on Earth. This nuclear pulse was also featured in Godzilla: King of the Monsters when he used it to annihilate King Ghidora.

3Adaptive Transformation
No Challenge Too Small
Shin Godzilla introduced a wide variety of powers that hadn’t been seen in the franchise, and this much darker take on Godzilla showed the full transformation of the monster from a small aquatic creature to a fully grown radioactive beast. However, there was something more to this power that made it different from other transformations.
Godzilla’s body was unstable but was constantly adapting and transforming to meet any challenge. Eventually, Godzilla was on the verge of transforming parts of its body into human-like Godzilla creatures, but luckily, he was frozen just in time.

2Shin Godzilla’s Rays
Most Destructive Rays
Shin Godzilla’s rays were much different from what fans had seen in other movies. In the past, his blue atomic breath would emit from Godzilla’s mouth and blow up one building at a time.
In Shin Godzilla, this ability was supercharged and was able to penetrate through buildings and hit other buildings in the same path. He could also emit similar beams from his dorsal spines to destroy aircraft and from his tail, giving him even more deadly precision.
