There’s a very real chance that by the end of this week, we know a little something aboutNintendo’sSwitchsuccessor. There’s also a very real chance we know nothing about it for months even though many of us are convinced its new hardware will be here very soon. All we know for sure is that Nintendo is up to something. Not only because it has almost been seven years since the launch of the Switch, but also because some of the platform’s biggest games are finally going on sale.
21 Switch games have sold more than 10 million copies, nine of which have sold more than 20 million. Staggering numbers and their continued success is why Nintendo rarely lowers their prices.Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 8more than any other as Nintendo’s latest numbers revealed the racing game has now sold more than 60 million copies. That number will continue to grow this quarter as the latest Mario Kart game is currently on sale.

Almost always $59.99, the same price it was at launch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is $48.49 at Walmart. That might not seem like much of a price cut, but again, outside of a Black Friday-type event, the Switch’s Mario Kart is rarely on sale. If you’ve already got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - and with almost one in every two Switch owners having bought it, that seems likely - there’s a far newer Mario game also on sale unexpectedly.

WHERE TO PLAY
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is an expanded version of the racing game originally launched on Nintendo Wii. It features new characters, an updated battle system, and more than 50 tracks.
Despite only being released in November 2023,Super Mario RPGis also on sale. Like Mario Kart, the remake has been $59.99 for the first three months of its run. However, Walmart currently has the plumber’s newest adventure available for just $47.95. Potentially one of the last Mario games released on Switch with justMario vs. Donkey Kongand The Thousand Year Door remake still to come unless other games are announced.
Mario isn’t the only Nintendo mascot to have his flagship games receive price cuts as an announcement about what’s to come from Nintendo potentially looms.Kirby and the Forgotten LandandMetroid Dreadhave bothhad their prices cut on Amazon, the former dropping to less than $50. Suffice to say, if there are any glaring omissions in your Switch library, now’s the time to try and fill them.
