Shadow will beadded to Sonic Generations via its remakelaunching later this year, and then after that, the brooding hedgehog will be introduced to Sonic’s live-action movie universe via its third film. Well, pre-orders for the new Shadow merch are available now and they’ll be released on June 15, so still in plenty of time for you to take them to the cinema with you to seeSonic 3on December 20. The backpack is not only Shadow-themed, but like a lot of Loungefly’s officially licensed products, it has been made to look like the character has quite literally been turned into a backpack.
The design will make it look like you’re carrying Shadow around with you, something I’m not entirely sure the moody hedgehog would be on board with. There’s also a smaller image of Shadow on the back, and the tag on the zip is a Chaos Emerald which is a very nice touch. Shadow has been turned into a mini backpack for the Year of Shadow. The officially licensed backpack is exclusively available at GameStop, and there’s a matching wallet sold separately.
The backpack is available to pre-order now through the link in the box above for $54.99, and the matching wallet is $24.99. There has been a steady flow of Shadow merch dropping since the turn of the year, and that will likely continue as Sega wants as many people to be familiar with the often-forgotten hedgehog before Generations and Sonic 3 drop.Shadow was turned into a Lego Minifigureat the end of 2023, getting his own set before Knuckles which was somewhat surprising, althoughhe did only beat the echidna by about six weeks.
Knuckles will also be getting a lot of attention this year, and a lot sooner than Shadow. The Idris Elba-voiced character is getting his own spinoff series, and it hits Paramount Plus later this week on April 26. Speaking of huge stars voicing iconic Sonic characters, we now knowKeanu Reeves will almost certainly be voicing Shadow. A pick that appears to have Sonic fans split, hopefully we hear his take on Shadow’s voice soon.
