For the past week,Dragon’s Dogma 2fans have feared that the long-awaited sequel will be capped at 30fps on console. While there’s no way to definitively disprove this until it’s in our hands in March, we can say that a lot of the “evidence” floating around that this is the case is fake, so it’s far from proven.

In fact, many fans are hopeful that the latest gameplay trailer fromPlayStation’s State of Play showcase proves that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will surpass 30fps. The gameplay trailer shown off here featured footage captured on aPlayStation 5, and from what we can see, it’s certainly not capped at 30. Admittedly, there are moments where there are noticeable framerate drops, but it’s far from the rumours being spread online.

Check out the latest gameplay trailer below. If this is an accurate depiction of how the game will play on PS5 at launch, then it’s noticeably smoother than 30fps.

Unfortunately, we can see dips during some of the combat sequences when there’s a particularly large enemy in screen, or just a lot going on at once. So, it might not be a totally stable experience, but it doesn’t look like we’ll be kept at 30.

As for its performance on PC, the recommended specs are available on theSteam page. Some fans are fearful as, right now at least, it only shows the specs for 1080p/30fps and 2160i/30fps. However, it doesn’t say that this is the limit, only showing what you’d need to be able to achieve that performance. We’ll have to keep an eye on whether or notCapcomupdates it to show us what we’d need to comfortably reach 60fps.

Before the latest trailer, some were also saying that a preview from IGN Japan says that the game is capped at 30fps. However, this also isn’t true, and there’s no mention of this whatsoever.Itdidsay that there was only a single save file, much like the original game, so having two playthroughs running on a single system will be awkward to set up.

In any case, we’ll find out what’s going on for ourselves when Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches on March 22. This comes 12 years after the first game in the series, so fans have been incredibly patient for this sequel. It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
