Today marks the 22nd anniversary ofKingdom Heartsand fans are begging for any kind of news onKingdom Hearts 4orMissing Linkto mark the occasion.
Back in 2022,Kingdom Hearts celebrated its 20th anniversary in a huge way. Not only did we get a whole event dedicated to the series' history, complete with a new piece of art from Tetsuya Nomura, but we also got confirmation of two massive upcoming games -Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link and Kingdom Hearts 4.
As big as those reveals were, though, things have gotten incredibly quiet on the Kingdom Hearts front since then, with the 21st anniversary going by without any kind of announcement.Kingdom Hearts 4 hasn’t been talked about much since the reveal, whileMissing Link still hasn’t released despite having a closed beta last year that seemed to go quite well.
Now that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is out of the way and Kingdom Hearts 4 is poised as Square’s next big release, the Mickey Mouse gloves are off, and fans are begging for a crumb of news to celebrate the 22nd anniversary. Over on Twitter, most of the mentions of Kingdom Hearts right now are wishing it a happy birthday andalso pointing out how starving we all are for news.
Considering today marks the anniversary of the series and it’s been two years since we last saw Kingdom Hearts 4,a lot of fans are expecting some kind of announcement to do with the game. As much as I want to be in that very hopeful boat, it’s worth remembering that the 21st anniversary went by with nothing but a post acknowledging that it was the anniversary, so maybe don’t get your hopes up too high.
My favourite reach for Kingdom Hearts 4 news comes from Twitter user NightCloud98, who figured out that two plus two equals four… that’s surely a sign that KH4 news is coming, right?
As of the time of writing, nothing has been posted to the official Kingdom Hearts social media pages and Square Enix hasn’t acknowledged the anniversary at all, but it’s still early in the day yet, so something could still come of it. If wedoend up getting some kind of reveal, it’s more likely that it’ll be focused on Missing Link and not Kingdom Hearts 4, but at this point, we’ll take anything to celebrate the anniversary.
