Jenova Emergent Boss Fight Overview
Jenova Emergent grows in form and strength as the battle wages. At around 90 percent, and then again at about 55 percent, and finally at around 25-30 percent, she’ll become larger.
During the midway point,Jenova leaps from the walls to the floor, and this is when things go wild. Basically,Jenova has more attacks up her sleevein each phase.

She’ll begin witha single linear-arc laserthat’s relatively easy to evade, as well as an irritating attack calledPestilential Reckoning, which deals damage andinflicts negative status effects.
The game has a fairly generous window in which itinforms you that Pestilential Reckoning is en route. When this happens, retreat backward somewhatto get out of harm’s way.
Retributionis like the initial laser attack, Vengeance, on overdrive.Multiple lasers spew forth, so it’s more difficult to dodge. When you’re struck, your character will be sent skyward for several seconds, soswap to someone elseto maintain momentum.
The real fun begins whenJenova reaches the floor. Expect to see herdart across the battlefieldseveral times using herappendages to strike for several hundred points of damageas she does.
Jenova Emergent Boss Fight Strategy
First things first:Jenova has no weaknesses. This meansyou shouldn’t go all-in with elemental magic. It’s not that it won’t be effective; it just doesn’t provide any noteworthyedge, whereas conventional attacks likeBarret’s Overcharge and Tifa’s Dive Kickare reliable regulars.
Pressuring Jenova means destroying its appendages, and for a mercy, they tend to shatter pretty easily. At first, it’s just the head. Later on,more pieces will sprout. It’s generally best tofocus on one at a time, since they’ll go down quickly.
Mind you, Jenova willregrow appendages over time. But when this happens, think of it as a mixed blessing - you can stagger her all over again.
attempt to time the appendage-shattering stagger-building for whenyour characters all have at least one, preferably two, ATB chargesat the ready. Those stagger phases are precious lifeblood through which we will emerge the victors here, andwe want to be ready to unleash on Jenova.
Synergy Abilities and Limit Breaksare always good, and theItem Economizer Materiashould be equipped to someone for itsoccasional no-charge healing actions.
This will prove to be of vital importat the midway mark, when you may find yourself in need of potions every few seconds.
