Dragon’s Dogma 2isn’t like many other modern RPGs, prioritizing immersion and exploration as key tenets of the game’s appeal. The same applies to the fast travel philosophy, as any means of reaching your destination more quickly can’t be just for convenience’s sake.
Whether you’re craving the instant gratification of teleportation via Ferrystones, or prefer a nice trip on an oxcart, there’s something for you to enjoy. Fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2 might take a little getting used to, as you’re limited in your movements and are instead encouraged to walk the long, winding roads.

How Does Fast Travel Work?
Dragon’s Dogma 2’s fast travel systememphasizes maintaining your immersion into the world of Vermund, encouraging you to lose yourself in the adventure, rather than the menus. Traveling has to make sense in lore.
You’ll have access to two forms of fast travel from the early stages of Dragon’s Dogma 2:

Most of your time looking at a map will be to find your route while walking, as fast travel isn’t always possible if you don’t have the Ferrystones or coin.
How To Fast Travel Using Ferrystones
AFerrystoneis a small blue stone that canteleportyou back to a selectedPortcrystalwhen used in the menu.
Ferrystones are rare to find and sometimes given as rewards throughout your journeys.

Keep Ferrystones until necessary, as you may need one in a tight spot.
You mustinteract with a Portcrystalfor it to become available on the map to select as afast travel destination.

Once interacted with, use a Ferrystone to select a Portcrystal and instantly teleport to it.
How To Fast Travel Using Oxcarts
Oxcartscan be hired fora few hundred coinsthroughout Vermund and are often marked by a small Ox head on your map.
In addition to oxcarts marked on your map in cities like Vernworth, you can sometimes findsmall stands where you can await an oxcart.
These stands can also be found at the marked locations and serve to accelerate the passage of time until a new oxcart arrives to bring you to your destination.
Once you’ve waited until your oxcart arrives, you must talk to the cart driver to pay for passageto the cart’s given destination.
Pay for your ride, then go into the back of the oxcart andsit down to initiate the fast travel sequence.
The ride will not begin unless you sit down in the back of the cart.
Look for the “DozeOff” option toskip to your destination.
You can also sit down in the back first which triggers the payment dialogue, but you will need to get up, and then sit down again for the cart to initiate the sequence.
Oxcart Routes
Oxcart routes are set, and won’t necessarily go to every last location you may want.
You mustcheck with the driver to see the destinationof a particular oxcart.
Once you know where an oxcart typically goes, you can return to that same cart to follow its route to its sole destination.
While oxcarts are a relatively safe means of fast traveling in Dragon’s Dogma 2,they are not completely safe.
Oxcart Raids
Often, when you Doze Off on your oxcart travels, you’lltrigger a Raid.
ARaidis an event where you will be attacked by a large group of enemies and your travel will be paused.
Be careful toprotect the cartduring these encounters, asit can be destroyedif you’re careless with your attacks.
Your fast trip via oxcart will be forfeited if the cart is gone.
During a Raid, you will not be able to sit in the cartand must defeat your enemies before you’re able to continue your journey.
The cart will usually begin moving forward once everyone is ready to continue to the destination.
Even if the driver goes missing and is not in the cart, you can sit down in the back and trigger the “Doze Off” option to skip ahead to your destination.
While oxcarts may not be the best method of fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2, it is relatively cheap at only about200 Gor less per trip, depending on your destination.
You also get a chance to earn EXP and DCP from your fights during these Raids, sothe slightdelay in reaching your destination is rewardingat least.
