There are five playable classes inLast Epoch, each providing a unique playstyle, passive tree, and skills with their own developable skill trees. However, each class also has three Masteries that you can choose from, greatly changing your playstyle while granting access to new skills.
you’re able to only choose one of your classes' three available Masteries, and you won’t be able to change your Mastery once you’ve selected it, so you’ll need to decide carefully. Below, we’ll take a look at how to unlock Mastery for your class, as well as what that entails.

How To Unlock Mastery
you may unlock your class’s Masteryduring Chapter 2, after defeatingElder Pannionand traveling to theEnd of Time, the game’s main hub area. Here, you can find and accept the quest"The Power of Mastery"from theForgotten Knight.
Speak to this NPC and she will direct you toElder Gaspar. Head up the floating spiral staircase of rocks to the second level of the map and speak to Gaspar tochoose which Mastery you wantto unlock for your class.
Your Mastery choice is permanent for that character; you willnot be able to choose a different Masteryat any point down the line, unless you make a new character, so choose wisely!
After you’ve chosen your Mastery, you will unlock that Mastery’sPassive tree. However, before you’re able to start putting points into this tree, you’ll need to putat least 20 Passive Points into your class’s main tree, first.
If you’re just following the story and completing a few of the optional side quests that reward Passive points, you should have around 19-20 Passive points allocated at this point.
You’ll immediately gain access to your Mastery’sMastery Skillafter unlocking it, but you’ll need to put Passive Points into the tree to unlock the rest of the Mastery’s exclusive skills.
While you can’t change which Mastery you’ve chosen, you canrespec the Passive Points you’ve put into your Mastery treeto reallocate them at any point by speaking to the applicable NPC in town.
