Helldivers 2features intense combat and chaos beyond imagination while fighting the Galactic War against mighty bugs and mechanized bots. The third person view is the game’s default exploration and weapon scoping mode, but you’re able to toggle to the first-person mode when you gun down the targets.
The first-person perspective makes gunplay much more immersive than the third-person perspective. The zoomed-in version makes the targets much more bigger than the divers, especially the bugs from the Terminid faction. There are clear benefits and drawbacks to using the first-person perspective, and this guide breaks down how to switch between the two modes.

How To Switch To First-Person
Pressing the right stick (R3) on your PlayStation 5 controllerwhile aiming down the sightwill take you to first person perspective. If you use thekeyboard and mouse configuration on a PC,pressing the middle mouse button toggles the first-personmode, as this is the default keybind.
You need to aim down the sight and then press the designated buttonon PlayStation 5 or PC input devices to switch from first-person view to third person.

The first-person view only works while shooting targets from any ranged weapon in the game. Outside the combat, the game does not feature changes from third-person view to any other.
Advantage of Using First Person View
Switching to first-person mode with certain weapons just feels more natural and easy to handle. For example, the Railgun is one ofthe best weaponsin the game, and if youhold the Reload button, you can toggle the Unsafe mode. This mechanic allows you tocharge the gun above the safe zone to trade extra damage. However, an overcharge will instantly blow the head of your diver and break the gun too.
UsingRailgun from a third personperspective, you may barely see the charging gauge. Yet, in first-person mode, you have that charging gauge right there on the screen, allowing you to release the trigger just before it hits the peak. This advantage keeps your diver safe while dealing maximum damage using a Railgun.

The first-person mode also makes it easier to fine-tune where you’re aiming, to better hit the weak spots on enemies.
Disadvantage of Switching To First-Person View
Close-quarter combat becomes a nightmare in first-person mode. No matter how good your strategy is, the combat situation will never go in your favor and heavily impact the outcome if you’re in first-person while being swamped by enemies.
That is becauseyou get a very limited and narrow field of view (FOV) while using the first person perspective. You can not see anything coming at your diver from the left, right, and back side.A rushing Chargercan hit you in the backand send you flying a couple of meters away. Anything can happen on the field when all hell breaks loose.
We highly recommendyou never switch to first-person perspective while engagingin a close-quarter combat.
