Beware the darkness when you’re traveling the roads inDragon’s Dogma 2, or you might find yourself seeing a Phantom. These ghastly apparitions float about the forests and paths, looking for unsuspecting victims to possess and drain the life out of them, and you don’t want it happening to you.

Terrifying as they are, Phantoms drop a useful crafting material you might just need for a quest or to enhance a weapon, so fighting them is beneficial. Maybe you run into a pack of them, and you aren’t able to run. Whatever the situation, we’ll tell you how to handle these bothersome ghosts.

Where To Find Phantoms

Phantoms arenight-only monstersand can be found in a variety of locations across Vermund. You have a chance to find a smallgroup of one to threePhantoms inseveral different early-game locations, such as:

How To Kill Phantoms

With Phantoms, you’ll quickly find that regularphysical attacks don’t affect them– if you want to beat them, you’ll need touse Magic or Elemental attacksagainst them.

They aresusceptible to any type of magicdamage, butAOE spells like Salamanderfrom Sorcerers or ones with quicker damage likeLevin or High Levin do best against them, as Phantoms like tomove around a lot.

Melee Vocations likeFighter,Warrior, andThiefcan hit Phantoms with their attacksif their weapons areenchanted by an Affinity or Boon spell.

Themain dangerthat Phantoms pose is that they canpossess you or your Pawns, which not onlyimpairs your ability to movearound, butquickly drains your health, which can spell death if you’re fighting them with other monsters.

If you are possessed by a Phantom,call out to your Pawns for help, and they will attack you to end the possession.

Ifone of your pawns has been possessed, you can do the same to rescue them: one or two attacks will knock the Phantom awayfrom them.
