Paliais a cozy farming and life sim MMO. Each server has a small number of people, so it doesn’t always feel like an MMO, but it does have some features that remind us that it still is one. Most MMO games have some sort of auction house, or trading.
Many MMOs allow selling to other players through the game itself, or sometimes through third party services that the game allows you to use for convenience. To stay true to Palia’s cozy design, there’s no money involved during their trading. There is in-game lore to help explain their unique system.

Palia iscurrently in open beta and subject to change. We will update this article as needed.
What Is The Player Request System?
ThePlayer Request System is a way to help everyone obtain itemsthey need. All in-game itemscan be obtained by anyoneas they spend time in the world of Paliadoing everyday tasks such as farming, mining, or fishing.
You don’t need to get items through the Player Request System, you’re able to always go out and get the resourceson your own if you prefer.

The Player Request Systemallows players to request an item they need, andanother player can fulfill the request. There areone or two quests in the game that will require you to use the system, but otherwise it is optional.
TheRequest System is a gifting system. In Majiri society, showing you care about one anotheris shown by lending a helping hand and giving gifts. For this reason, you’re encouraged to help others and give gifts to each otheras well as to the game characters.

No monetary exchange is neededfor this trading system, and even if no one else has what you need, you’ll still be able to get materials through regular tasks. It willjust be a bit more time-consuming.
If you’re planning to cook a dish, request any items you need before starting the cooking process. You shouldget a warning text box if you try to cook without having all the necessary ingredients.

Since cooking is a timed activity, you might not get the ingredient you want in time, which would spoil the result andwaste your other ingredients.
How Do You Access The Player Request System?
There area couple of ways to access the Player Request System.
Interact With Crafting Machine
One of the easiest ways to access it isby interacting with any of the crafting machinesyou have on your housing plot.
Interacting with theworktable, or a cooking station for example, will bring you to a special interface. If youselect a recipe, it will show you which ingredients you haveby marking them with a green checkmark. It will alsoshow you how many of each ingredient or item you have, and how many are required to make the recipe.
If you’re missing an ingredient, the numbers under the necessary item will be redinstead of white andthere will be no green checkmark. Additionally, you’ll see a plus symbol in a white octagonal shapeto the lower right of the missing ingredient.
If youinteract with that plus symbol, you’ll enter the Player Request System. You’ll see all theitems you’re able to request, and it should automaticallyhighlight the missing ingredientfor added convenience.
This access method is great if you happen to be on your housing plotwhen you, or someone else, needs an item. What about when you’re in Bahari Baythough, and a fellow Palianneeds some Dispel Arrows towork on their huntingskills?
Go To The Social Menu
Thissecond method to access the Player Request System is just as simpleas the first. You canreach it by navigating to your social menu. One of the tabs in the social menu is for friends, while the other is labeled as requests. It will have asymbol showing a hand with a heart-shape hovering above it.
Once you select the requests tab, you’ll be able to see a section called “Active Request”. This shows any items or ingredientsthat you have requestedrecently.
The other section,a gift box symbol, shows requests from other Palians. As long as youhave the requested items in your inventory or storage, you’ll be able toclick the “gift” button to automatically fulfill a request.
Thegift button will be grayed outif you don’t have enough of an item to fulfill the entire request.
What You Should Know About The Request System
TheRequest System is a tool of convenience, and it’s great if youstruggle to find some of the more rare itemsin the game. Youwon’t be able to use the system to acquire anything you haven’t already encountered.
If you’ve never been given a cooked dish, or cooked it yourself, you won’t be able to request it. The same goes for insects and fish. You can’t request an apple seedif you haven’t leveled up your farming enoughto purchase one of your own.
You won’t be able to use thesystem to complete certain achievements, or to gain items you haven’t been able to procure on your ownfor villagers’weekly requests such as Sushi.
If you don’t have the recipe for a villager’s weekly request gift, you can cook with someone who has the recipe, and you’ll be able to obtain the cooked dishthat you can gift.
Requests areonly active for a certain amount of time: 60 minutes. Once that time has passed, the request will be canceled if it hasn’t been fulfilled, andyou’ll have to make another request.
Requestsonly show up as basic quality. You currentlycannot request a star-quality item, anda star-quality item won’t fulfill a requesteither. If you want to be able to help fellow Palians it’s a good idea tokeep a stash of basic quality items.
You’llreceive a small bit of renownfor helping outyour fellow Palians with their requests. It’s justone renown point per fulfilled request, but if you fulfill a lot of requests, that can add up over the course of time.you’re able to have up to four active requestsat any given time.
There are certainitems you may be able to request, but that other players may not be able to fulfill. You may come across items fromevents or special occasionswhich won’t be available again, such as Reth’s Ice Cream Mochi.
Reth’s Ice Cream Mochi was given aspart of a quest during the very first Maji Market event. Thequest involved consuming the dish, so most players won’t have thatspecific item to gift to others.
The Player Request System is great for those timeswhen you’re in the middle of a crafting project, or you haven’t had time to go out and doall the gathering necessary to get materials. It’sjust one of the aspects that makes Palia a cozy MMO.
Don’t forget tocheck chat if you fulfill someone’s request, or if yours is fulfilled. It’s not uncommon for people tospecifically thank you in chat.
