The world ofDragon’s Dogma 2is a dangerous one. The dragon has returned, drakes are running wild, and monsters are attacking in mass everywhere. The city of Vernworth has dispatched soldiers to try and help the people of Vermund, but even they struggle.

Despite being the Arisen, you’ll have to prove yourself as one, and it’s up to you to provide aid to the people in an effort to do so. The soldiers of Vernworth need your help as much as the people do, and you’ll have to help them as part of your duties as Arisen – and to prove you’re the real deal.

How To Start Monster Culling

To start Monster Culling, you’ll need to havereached the city of Vernworthafter completing the prior main story quests and havegotten several cutscenes with Brant upon arriving.

After everything’s done,meet with Brant at The Stardrop Innand speak to him again. If this is yourfirst time meeting with him, you’ll need tospeak to him while he’s at the counter, and thenwait until the nightto do so again.

If you’vemet with him before, head to thetable in the side room at nightand speak with Brant. He’ll have three different quests available for you to acquire as part of proving yourself as the true Arisen, one of whichis Monster Culling.

Theobjectives can be completed in any orderyou want, but Trevo Mine, east Vermund, then and Harve Village is the order from easiest to hardest.

How To Destroy The Goblins In Trevo Mines

Thenearest Monster Culling quest objectiveis at Trevo Mine, which sitsnortheast of Vernworth, and it’s also theeasiest of the threeto complete, especially if you’ve just arrived in Vernworth.

Visit theVocation Guildandbegin theVocation Frustration questbefore you go to Trevo Mine.

You canget both done at the same time,as the weapons needed are also inside the mines.

From thewestern exit of Vernworth, near the oxcart station,follow the road northeastuntil you reach Trevo Mines, and head down into the caves.

You’ll haveseveral small packs of goblinsto deal with, as well asoccasional bats, but there arefour main locationswith larger fights. First,take the left path and kill all the packs of goblinsyou come across as you make your way around, and becareful of the western roomwhere there areseveral rocks that the goblins might rollat you.

From here, you can eitherkeep going forward, or headback towards the entrance and take the right path, but both directionslead you to the same areayou’ll need to go to.

You can pick up theGreatsword needed for Vocation Frustrationfrom thechest in the first small roomdown theright pathway.

When youreach a large room with multiple layers, headacross the bridge, and it’ll have you fighting againstarmored Goblin Leaders, and ahandful of smaller onesalongside the soldiers.

verify totake out the Goblin Leaders first, as they’re themost dangerous, and you don’t want them trying to call for any reinforcements.

Onceall the goblins in Trevo Mine are dead, and you’ve rescued the soldiers in the large room, thequest objective will be completed, and you can leave the mines.

How To Help The Soldiers Safeguard The Shipment

The second Monster Culling objective islocated in eastern Vermund, and you’ll have todefend a shipment of goodsfrom attacking monsters.

You can reach the objective byleaving through Vernworth’s eastern exit, following the path through the Cropper’s Quarter andall the way east across two bridges. As soon as you arrive at the quest zone, you’ll enter into afight against a pack of Goblins.

There will be a fewGoblin Leaders, a handful of regular Goblins, and a single Saurianto take care of, and you’ll want to keep them away from the shipment so it doesn’t end up destroyed.

Bring along at leastone Fighter with the Shield Summonsskill so they can provoke the goblins into attacking them instead.

Fight with the soldiers andhit the Goblins with Fire element spells and attacksto kill them quickly, and it’llwork just as well against the Saurian, though they are weaker against Ice. As long as youhave a full party to engagethe group, theshipment will stay unharmed.

Speak with the soldiers aftereverything’s dead for a report on the fight, and then you’ll have this objective completed.

How To Rescue The Soldiers At Harve Village

Similar to the goblin killing in the first part, you’ll have to do some cave exploration again for this objective. Harve Village is located in thesouthwestern corner of Vermund, and there aretwo routesthat go directly to it:

Theroute through Riverge Cavernis moredangerous but more lucrative, sporting numerousSaurians and an Ogre, but also nets you a lot of EXP, Discipline Points, and some loot.

Once you get to Harve Village, take themiddle path down to the coast, and you’ll see alone soldierstanding near an entranceto a cave.

Speak with him, thenhead down into Stormwind Cavefor the objective. You’ll havetwo main fightsto do, and you’ll be fighting Saurians; these are more powerful than Goblins andfond of ambush attacks, such asjumping off of walls onto youor your pawns.

Saurians areextremely weak to Iceand even a single cast ofFrigor or Hagol can freeze themsolid.

Once they’re dead,speak with the soldier you’ll find inside, and then you’ll need toescort him to the entranceof the cave.

You can either go back the way you came or take the path to the right of where you fought the Saurians and follow it back to a rock wall you’ll need to break with melee attacks or spells and a treasure chest overlooking the entrance.

Either way you go,lead Hollis out of Stormwind Cave safelyand back to the soldier at the entrance tocomplete the last quest objective, and the Monster Culling quest as a whole.

Head back to Vernworth andturn the quest in to Brantwhile he’s at the tavern at night, and you’llreceive a hefty rewardof:
