Unicorn Overlord’sroster of characters is immense - there are over 60 characters to obtain, each with their own backstories, personalities, and potential relationships to build. One of these characters is Laurent, who will start showing up shortly after completing a certain milestone in the game. He’s an impressively powerful unit, so you’ll definitely want to nab him.
While most characters in the game will either join you shortly after meeting them or once you beat (and subsequently forgive) them, Laurent is a little more mysterious. You’ll need to be a bit more committed to recruitment if you want a Great Knight like Laurent in your army.

How To Recruit Laurent
The first step you’ll need to complete before you’re able to start recruiting Laurent is tocompleteThe Priestess, Abducted, which is the first major storyline battle of the game. Once you’ve completed that, the world opens up a little, and you can start encountering Laurent.
Laurent will start joining your side automatically, but only in certain battles. Specifically,Laurent will become a controllable guest unit in Liberation Quests, which are the generic region liberation quests that appear all over the world. In addition, he will only appear during quests that take place inCornia and Drakenhold- he will not show up in Liberation Quests that show up in Elheim.
Laurent does not show up inAuxiliary Quests, Side Quests, or Main Quests.
Getting Laurent to join permanently is a simple matter - simplycomplete four Liberation Quests that have him showing up. At the end of the fourth Liberation Quest, you’ll witness a cutscene in which Laurent’s identity is discussed, and he pledges to join you, regardless of your opinion.
We don’t know whether Laurent absolutely has tosurvive these battlesto join you. To be on the safe side, don’t let him die in any of these battles.
While Laurent makes for a very powerful, high-level guest in these battles,he’ll join up at a lower level- possibly to match your army’s average level.
