The Outlast Trialslets you play through the game as a solo player, which can be more challenging, since you need to complete everything alone. When you have other players joining you, someone can distract the enemies while others tackle important tasks to earn your freedom. You may want to join others online and work together, but how do you join them?
Luckily, you may join people online and make the most of your upcoming trial. Whether you want to join friends or play with random people online to meet others who play, you have multiple options. That way, you can make the most of your experience and unlock more trials and MK-Challenges.
How To Play Online
Once you complete the tutorial and are in the Sleep Room, you’re able to play with others. You can eitheraccess the Terminal in the middle of the facility or press the Terminal buttonto open the menu.
You can press the corresponding button toactivate the Group Finder, which will display multiple options.
What It Does
Any Trial
You’ll match up withanyone wanting to play any trial. This has the lowest queue time.
Select Program
Youchoose which Program you want to play, such as Program Genesis, X, or Ultra. This has an average queue time.
Select Trial
Youchoose which trial you want to play. This has the longest queue time.
You’ll wait in the lobby and players will appearas they match with you. Curiously, you won’t know other players have joined until you see them either on the leaderboard or just running around the Sleep Room.
Youcan’t search for a match while starting a trial, so be prepared to wait.
How To Play With Friends
You have different ways to play with friends. All options willrequire you to go to the Trial screen and select the Add button, which is the plus button over one of the missing characters.
You cansend a quick invite to any of your friends.
Invite A Friend
you’re able to select the Add A Friend button, as shown in the bottom right corner.This will have you type a codeto add a friend and display your code.
Navigate The Tabs
The tabs at the top can help you find specific friends. This includesYour Friends List, those in the Sleep Room, people you recently joined in a trial, and anyone you blocked.
On the first screen, you cangive players permission to invite their friends.
You can play cross-platform with PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. You shoulduse a Friend Code to add people from different platforms.
How To Start Trials
Once you have the trial ready, you can start the trial. The game will load the Trial, whichbegins once everyone enters the Shuttlein front of the Terminal.
A time limit will appear at the top of the screenfor everyone to join, at which point you must go through the turnstiles opposite the trial selection screen. This will teleport you to the next room, where you’ll need to sit on the seats, watch the cutscene, then exit the shuttle through the opposite turnstiles to start the trial.
Play Chess Or Arm Wrestle
To help pass the time as you wait for your next trial, you canplay Chess and Arm Wrestle against other players while in the Sleep Room. You play these games by usingthe two tables next to the Terminal, so simply approach one and wait for a player to join you.
This is a great way tohave fun while the leader selects a trialor someone needs to step away from the game.
