World Championships 2023 Vance Kelley Mew’s Revenge Deck Best Cards

Since its release in 2021, Mew VMAX has produced a popular archetype that focuses onhigh draw potential, rapid Energy acceleration, and high damage attacksduring the early and late game. Vance Kelley’s version of this deck, Mew’s Revenge, helps take advantage of the benefits Mew VMAX provides while also tailoring the deck to fit the meta of the 2023 World Championships.

Mew VMAX

There is no Mew’s Revenge without Mew VMAX. In both the typical Fusion Strike deck as well as Kelley’s Mew’s Revenge,Mew VMAX will be the main attacker in your deck. Max Miracle only applies 130 damage, but it can go through Abilities such as Mimikyu’s, which prevents damage from Pokemon V.

However, Cross Fusion Strike will be the main attack you want to focus on using. When you attack with Cross Fusion Strike, you’ll be able to use any of your Benched Pokemon’s attacks, so long as they are also a Fusion Strike Pokemon.

Mew VMAX Sec FS

If your Mew VMAX is going to be Knocked Out in the next turn, and you’re looking to prevent that, you can use Cross Fusion Strike to copy Psychic Leap if you have a Mew V on your Bench. This can help deal a small amount of damage while preventing your opponent from taking three Prize Cards.

This attack will allow you to easily pivot and customize your gameplay to best counter your opponent.

Just be warned, if you use Cross Fusion Strike to copy an attack, you will also copy that attack’s effects. This means that if you copy Genesect V’s attack, you won’t be able to attack the next turn.

Elesa’s Sparkle

Elesa’s Sparkle can be a powerful card during the early game. This is because, on the first turn you are able to play Supporters, you can potentially attach up to three Energies. If you have a Mew VMAX in play along with a Meloetta on the Bench, this can allow you to deal up to 210 damage by using Cross Fusion Strike to copy Melodious Echo.

Remember, you can only play Elesa’s Sparkle if it is not a known fact where all your Fusion Strike Energies are. If you have four in play, whether in the discard pile or attached to your Pokemon, you cannot play Elesa’s Sparkle.

Pokemon TCG Box of Disaster

Box of Disaster

Box of Disaster is a unique twist to the traditional Fusion Strike deck, one that was highly beneficial in countering the high damage Tord’s Gardevoir provided during the World Championships. Because many Pokemon in the Gardevoir ex deck have the potential to Knock Out a Mew VMAX in a single attack,Box of Disaster provides an opportunity to return the Knock Out.

This card is beneficial against other opponents as well, however. This includes Charizard ex and other Pokemon with high-damage attacks early in the game.

Vance Kelley Mew’s Revenge Deck Strategy

Overall, the strategy for Mew’s Revenge is quite similar to that of a traditional Fusion Strike deck. Like many VMAX-centered decks, going first is best for this deck. Not only will this allow you to potentially attack with Mew VMAX on your second turn, but it also allows for you to attach an extra Energy.

Plus, when going first, you’ll be able to disrupt some of your greatest threats, such as Charizard ex, before they are able to get set up.

The main focus of Mew’s Revenge is to use Cross Fusion Strike to pick the right moves at the right times. If you are able to Knock Out your opponent using Mew VMAX’s Max Miracle, then you may not want to copy Genesect V’s attack and take on the burden of its effect.

If at any point you are close to Knocking Out your opponent’s Pokemon and they retreat, you’re able to use Cross Fusion Strike to help secure the Knock Out. This is because you can copy Oricorio’s attack to place damage counters. However, this only applies five damage counters. Jirachi also blocks this attack.

Meloetta will likely be the main point of interest for this deck, as you will be able to apply up to 280 damage without any negative effects. The exact damage done by copying Melodious Echo, however, does depend on the number of Fusion Strike Energy in play.

By using a combination of Double Turbo Energy and Fusion Strike Energy, you can help keep your Fusion Strike Energies out of the Active Spot while still being able to use Cross Fusion Strike.

This can be important as there are little to no ways to return Special Energies like Fusion Strike Energy to play once they are discarded.

World Championships 2023 Vance Kelley Mew’s Revenge Deck Common Threats

Dark Pokemon such as Roaring Moon ex and Charizard ex are the largest threats toward Mew VMAX. This is because these are not only common decks, but they apply Weakness to Mew VMAX. Because of this, your Mew will takedouble the amount of damage from Dark-type Pokemon, most often knocking it out in a single turn.

Decks with single-prize attackers likeBrainwave Gardevoirare also a dangerous matchup for Mew VMAX. This is because these decks can often achieve enough power to knock out a Mew VMAX easily. Even if the attacking Pokemon is Knocked Out, as it often will be with Box of Disaster attached, you’ll be trading three Prize Cards for one.

Vance Kelley’s version of the Mew VMAX Fusion Strike deckemploys several measures to help counter these threats, however. This includes the likes ofBox of Disasteras well asdisruption cardslike Path to the Peak and Judge.
